    Mark V with G System

I remember reading your post on the G System forum about that. I would definitely recommend giving the Sunday driver a go. I found it made a huge difference & allowed me to use the insert loop with no noticeable impedance mismatch problems. It also allowed me to reduce my input Gain on...

    Mark V with G System

I use a Lehle Sunday driver as a pre input buffer & it makes a big difference. I now have no loss of tone & am able to set the input gain on the G to 0 db. The mini amp gizmo & MkV Custom cable is a good investment as it switches channels instantly & also allows you to switch all the amps...

    Mark V with G System

Yes the loop can be switched on & off by the G System in the same way as it can with the Mark V footswitch but only if you use something like the mini amp Gizmo to switch this via midi as there is no TS jack on the amp for this. However I don't really think that is what you are getting at...

Yep! Paul at Zilla cabs, I have 3 of his cabs. http://www.zillacabs.com/index.php

    Opening the Mark V

Here’s how I did it! :) Remove the front grill as it makes it easier to pull the amp out. Unscrew the screws on the handle & remove it as the bolts are slightly proud on the other side & can catch on the amp chassis when you pull it out. Remove the tube guard if you still have it fitted...

    Mark V Re- Skinned!

Decided to get my Mark V re-skinned to match my Carvin Head & Cab. I think it looks great! Also a small tip I worked out when doing this to make removing the amp for tube swap or whatever easier. Snip around 2-3 mm off the corner of the metal plate on top of the reverb tank in the bottom...

    Power Tube Colour Coding

Of course not normal, this was an old post that was resolved elsewhere. http://forum.grailtone.com/viewtopic.php?f=33&t=56312

For those hobbiests who play their V at home

I found that even at bedroom volumes setting all 3 channels to 90 W Variac mode produced the most pleasing tones to my ears at least.

The perils of changing the V1 preamp tube

Easier to just take the head out of the chassis. Once you've done it a couple of times it's a breeze. :)

    Bias reading question

After my protestations Thomann have now agreed to replace the fualty probe free of charge.......as a good will gesture so they say.

    Bias reading question

I take on-board what you are saying but I also tried the TAD gear on my Carvin Amps which i'm pretty sure are compatible with the TAD gear & it clearly has some sort of fault. Disappointingly I got no response at all from TAD.....but I did get a response from Thomann the online retailer who...

    Bias reading question

Having lived with the amp for a while I'm now starting to get to grips with it. One thing i've noticed is there is a huge difference in the way the amp behaves once you switch all 3 channels to 90 Watts. Really opens everything up & what's more when switched to Variac mode it still sounds...

Thomann accepted the return & will replace it for me. :D Result!

Help me choose an effects system please :)

I am using the G System as I said & am very pleased with it. You can check out my other recent posts on the subject. The G System has great effects & works well with the Mark V but you will most likely need to invest in some additional hardware (Buffers, Hum Eliminators, amp switcher) to get it...

Help me choose an effects system please :)

I'm using the G System but I also have the TC Flashback Delay pedal. It sounds great in the Loop of the Mark V. Very transparent & versatile pedal. It has stereo capability, can be set to either true or buffered bypass & also has a Kill Dry facility for use in a parallel loop. Competiticely...

    Mark V Lead Channel video

Really like that tone Phil! Tweaked it a little to my taste but think will be using that a lot! Not experimented much with Mark IV mode on Chan 3 so far but I like it!
