i've opened my amp only once, and i've taken few photos from that period.... so my amp should by from 1993, am i right?

dc-5 serial number + crackling pot

thanks for advice, but i'm not thinking about replacing the whole pot. in such case, DeoxIT (or similar prep) should help, i did the same thing with crackling pots on guitars, etc. i just need to know, how am i supposed to get to the pot, remove knob... i know i'll probably have to remove...

dc-5 serial number + crackling pot

i have an early dc-5 head: where should i look for it's serial number? i'm curious about the year of production... which numbers in serial number are important? secondly, my output level pot seems to crackle when adjusting... well, output level, obviously. some DeoxIT Cleaningspray will...

    GT's or tung-sol for my dc-5 preamp?!?

JJ's are out of question. these tubes are being made in my country and although they supply some big names in amplifying industry, they sound too flat to me to be considered an option.

    New tubes for DC-5

try groove tubes, some people say that GT's are more interesting that mesa, since mesa emphasizes the durability.... their powertubes go in 3 different colors - white, red, blue... it's their distortion rating, find out more on their official website..

    GT's or tung-sol for my dc-5 preamp?!?

i need to swap 12ax7 tubes in my dual caliber dc-5 preamp. which brand should i go for? i can buy 12ax7 from tung-sol (made in russia) OR i can go for 12ax7 by groove tubes. i play mostly hard 'n' heavy, which makes me a hi-gain lover, but i want my clean channel clean at the same time. if...

    bad fuse?!

i've been checking my dc-5 shorthead (230v version) for any flaws... preamp tubes ok, power tubes ok but after examining the fuse i have found some weird-looking dirt on one side. could this be a signal of any kind that i should replace the fuse? amp itself work ok.

    different dc-5

well, it's at least possible. my friend owns so called "in-between" version and that reverb popping when changing channel is still there. but that is definitely a minor thing. why i have started this thread is that i'm thinking about buying the DC on the first picture. second picture shows my...

    different dc-5

are we talking only about layout differencies, or is there more to it?

    different dc-5

are you saying that DC on the first picture is actually "younger" that the other one? i'm not shure why, but i've always though it was the other way around... >to be honest, i'm far more interested in the differences in overall sound than visual/control elements... is there any hearable...

    different dc-5

i've heard rumours that some models od calibers (including dc-5) have older, mk3-like preamp and the newer ones have recto-like preamp. does abybody know for sure?

i wonder, what are the differences between these 2 versions of DC-5?!? and

    Death of a DC-5

yes, blown fuse is one of the most common results of shot powertube. replace the tubes and the fuse - that will most probably do it. you know it's worth it ;)
