what effect does body wood have on tone?

That was a very good breakdown of the effects of wood on guitar tone. The one thing I will disagree with, for two reasons is its only 10-15% of the tone and the pickups are 85-90%. reason one is where do your numbers come from, they sound like you pulled them out of the air. reason 2 is I...

Pickup Question For a Special Tele

Interesting, I am thinking of starting with the FRED in the Bridge and an Air Norton in the Neck.

what effect does body wood have on tone?

You don't really believe that do you? The body wood has everything to do with tone, as much as pups do. It can have a huge effect on attack , sustain, and frequency response from the interaction of the wood resonating with the strings, pickups only produce what the strings are doing in a 2D...

Pickup Question For a Special Tele

I'm buying A Fender Tele - Alder Body, Maple Neck, 2 Humbuckers, Strat style Hard tail Bridge. I am Going to be rewiring it using a PRS Style wiring, rotary switch replacing the tone knob. Putting in a mini pot in the spot where the blade selector was. I am going for unique tones with this one...

    this might help

I have been considering putting in the mid boost thats in the Eric Clapton Sig Strat just for that purpose. I'm also Ordering a Coustom Tele with FRED Pickups and a Single coil in the middle and a Piezo for Cleans. This is probably Going to have a 2 channel mixer built on a TL072 and a 9V battery.

differences betwwen Mesa/boogie Roadster and Road King II

I think that my Road King Kills at lead, I am using an EQ pedal but it sounds better than any Amp I have ever played before. I have no desire to even use FX at the moment because I like it so much. Granted I will be Getting a G-Major soon but it will be using the Recording Output and going to...

differences betwwen Mesa/boogie Roadster and Road King II

I have the Road King II V2. Anyone have any comments on the Triode/Pentode Switch? I'm just curiouse as I love the channel 2 in 2 EL34 mode cranked up. Sounds alot like a Billy Gibbons tone.

Tuneing my Road King II for more definition on channel 4

OK hear is where I'm at- I play fairly loud as my basement is huge and sound treated for recoding, I'm getting plenty of punch. I'm now using a Boss DS-1 as a booster Gain all the way down and I set the volume to be just slightly over the volume that its at when off -I purchased an MXR 6 band...

Tuneing my Road King II for more definition on channel 4

Wow, I'm finally experiencing the "Swirl Effect" from my amp, it sounds so bad azz its not funny. Its like a verry light Phase shifting tone, better than my small stone IMHO as its so light and their is no swooshing from an FX Pedal.

Tuneing my Road King II for more definition on channel 4

OK now this is what I'm looking for. I put my Blues driver as a booster pedal set the gain at 9:00- volume at 3:00 and my tone at 2:00. Their is such a difference I was scared to plug anything else in as it sounds sooooo smooth and articulate as it is now. Then I decided to plug my Beringer Tube...

Tuneing my Road King II for more definition on channel 4

Currently I use The dunlop Jazz also and some thicker Tortex. I hate flimsy picks, don't seem to get much punch from them. I also use .10-.46 Boomers for strings. As for not getting definition at high gain settings, I compleatly disagree, I play through a couple of Peaveys - Classic 30 with...

Tuneing my Road King II for more definition on channel 4

As I'm reading through the forums this technique seems to be the most poupulr method of getting a tighter sound at higher gain on he mesa amps. I currently overdrive my Fender Super Twin like this but its more of a SRV tone on that amp, Now I'm wondering if it may be key to pushing the amp where...

Tuneing my Road King II for more definition on channel 4

I hate having a battery in my Guitar, also I don't like the tone from Active pickups on the clener channels, I prefer Boosting with a pedal. I agree that 2:00 is redundant, I'm just emphasizing that I like maximum gain for the chording, I will try boosting with my Boss Blues Driver to see if...

Tuneing my Road King II for more definition on channel 4

I just bought my first Mesa Amp, Wow this thing is frigin amazing. I'm a long time Fender amp user and have always hesitated in buying a mesa due to the lack of The "FENDER TONE" on the clean channels. I had heard about the Lonestar and was intrigued so I went to check it out. I was amazed, but...
