i have a mesa rectoverb 50 amp. i want to play it thru a 16 ohm marshall 4x12 cab. is there a problem with using the 8ohm speaker output on the mesa amp? will this cause any problems for the amp/tubes/output tranny...etc. any info. it sounds very good thru this speaker cab. thanks.

thanks for the input. i am not currently using this amp anymore. the music my band covers requires more clean tones than anything. although the rectoverb amp gets great overdriven/distorted tones, i am now using a 15watt fender superchamp xd into a celestion 1x12 which i put in the mesa combo...

i have tried the rectoverb amp thru a marshall 4x12 with greenback speakers. it sounds great. better than the 1x12, 2x12, and other 4x12 cabs i've compared to. both channels sounded good. full. clean, overdriven, and all inbetween. marshall 2x12 or vox 2x12 is second choice. your question was...

i agree. i push the output. masters are low in comparison. this is where i've found the best tones from the amp. i've also had great success with tube, or preamp tube substitution. the amp sounds alot different, in comparison to the way it sounded when it had all mesa tubes...12ax7s and...

the marshall cab - 1933 or 36? 2x12 in mono jack 4ohms in stereo (2x12) 2 ins are 8ohm each spr 1x12 8ohm mesa combo i guess i prefer to keep the head running 1 type speaker. if i utilize the use of another cab i will contemplate running stereo for blended tones. that works great!

hey, this is the best yet (for me personally) v1 - telefunken 12ax7 v2 - GT 12ax7 v3 - rayethon 12ax7 v4 - mesa 12ax7a (russian2) (will be swapping this one out) v5 - rca 12at7 i swapped v1 and v2, (now - telefunken, groove tube.) and put the rayethon in v3. v5 is an rca 12at7. nice...

thanks for the info. i will try the 12BZ7 in V4, and also switching the v1 and v2 tubes around. i found the GT or groove tubes was a better sounding tube than the mesa 12ax7's i have.
