which do you think is better

Sounds to me like you want the Dual Recto. I love the Mark IV but you're not going to get it to sound exactly like a Rectifier for rhythm sounds.

    mark IV vs rectifier

Depending on the model replacing the pickups will probably get you closer. My RG1527 Prestige (which is a great guitar in my opinion) came with the ibanez/dimarzio pu's and they're fairly anemic. I'm replacing the pu's with Dimarzio ToneZone or Blaze Custom in the bridge and an AirNorton in...

    Questions regarding the Mark IV

Well put. :) Yup, the key to finding the right sounds for me was when I spent some time messing with tweed power and the switches on the back. Also found I could get pretty decent sounds at practice levels by setting the amp to triode / class A / mid gain and selecting tweed power mode...

    F-30 for crunchy metal sound

I didn't like the clean sound of the F-30. I find the 6L6's used in the F-50 make for a sweeter fuller clean than the el84's used in the F-30. But I'm spoiled by Fender cleans; you might like it. Give it a listen and see.
