Subbing LSS 5Y3 with 5U4 Question...

Thanks for the response! Yeah what you said was my one hesitation - that it might run just a bit hot. I'll check out the Boogie site and order up an NOS 5Y3. Thanks again! raf

Thanks for Posting on 30 Watt Power Drop!

The drop/fade was happening in all modes but I play in 30 watt mode only. I was troubled because I was only aware of issues with 5/15W mode due to rectifier issues. I couldn't make heads or tails of intermittant power fade issues, and I certainly couldn't practice with a band or gig that way...

Subbing LSS 5Y3 with 5U4 Question...

(I can't find the post I skimmed using the search function)... I read some LSS owners are doing that. Anyone used a 5U4 with no issues? I like the idea, tired of blown recifier tubes - and the occasional fuse... raf

Thanks for Posting on 30 Watt Power Drop!

I want to thank members of this board for posting on the 30 watt loss of power problem! My LSS 1 x12 kept losing power and became relegated to a home practice amp. The local (and excellent) Mesa tech had tried to resolve the issue but it was intermittent and never occurred at his shop. Well...

New piece of puzzle found for LSS tone

Just got a Les Paul Goldtop Classic! The pickups are eq'd (if that's the right term) a little higher than my LP Standard Burstbuckers (which i love)...voila! Just what I was aiming for! I wanted the thickness of humbuckers with a little more edge, something between my LP and Strat. I was...

    Goosing the LSS?

Guys, thanks for your suggestions..I ended up ordering a BB, due in part to their excellent on-line demos and of course this board.

    Goosing the LSS?

thanks guys! no one sells the red snapper in Austin so I'm gonna give Guitar Rez a call tommorrow and see if they have a BB in stock.

    New Mesa amp rumor!!

man Monsta that reverb has you ticked. hopefully they fix things they hear about...but as was posted previously I also don't see them mixing product lines in the gain department...think of all the ticked off musicians on this board alone-as well as a drop in sales..but having pristine cleans...

    Question for Mark IV owners

yes, the Guitar Center on Anderson in Austin. went there yesterday to try out the Expres 5:50, Stilletto Ace and Lonestar Classic.

    New Mesa amp rumor!!

4 channel with Lonestar cleans and reverb but with Mark series crunch/lead voicings...what else could it be?

    Goosing the LSS?

Okay my LSS setup is about there. For channel 1 I have a nice Waddy Watchel (spelling?) type crunch and on Channel 2 I have a real nice brown sound type crunch going. What I want is to take the channel 2 sound up a notch for slighty higher gain soloing. Anything you recommend in particular...

    Question for Mark IV owners

thanks! that's pretty much what I'm looking for (my favorite Triaxis peramp is the lead 1 red vintage), but found out yesterday that Mesa discontinuing the Mark IV series is true. I guess I'll have to keep my eye out for a used one in good condition.

LSS 4x10 on Ringo:Off The Record

On HBO Dave Stewart interviews Ringo and at one point for a very short time David plays Beatle guitar intros and Ringo follows on drums. Dave has an LSS 4x10 next to what looks like a Maverick. He gets on a 12 string Rickenbacher and starts Ticket to Ride. Tons of chime. raf

    Question for Mark IV owners

Are those the new 4 channel amps? Do you have to worry abut heat issues, (reliability) etc?

    effects loop AND out front?

I use an SKB pedalboard that allows you to route some effects to the amps effects loop and some effects to the front of the amp. I used the shortest cables I could make to connect effects on the board, but I use long cables from the board to the guitar out of necessity (front of stage to...

    Question for Mark IV owners

Thanks. I was trying a Stilletto Duece at Musicmakers. I'll go back and re-try with those ideas in mind. As far as my crunch description, getting in the ballbark of the bands I described is fine. I'm not looking to copy a sound as much as use similar settings as a basis for mine. I tend...
