trying to learn a solo note for note software question

I think most recording software these days has a "time stretching" feature that can slow down the audio with or without changing the pitch. Heck even windows media player can slow down music. It might not be the best quality, but might get you through if you don't want to get too involved.

    ear plugs and ear infection?

Sorry to hear. But I really doubt it's from wearing ear plugs. Not that it couldn't happen, I know after a while those things can get a little crusty, especially if you re-use them. Who know what could be lingering on those things. But I've been wearing ear plugs almost daily (for my job) since...

What is a boost pedal for?

I really like using an OD pedal as a boost. I've noticed, at least for me, it really smoothes out and tightens the distortion tones. And with all the added compression, you get sustain for days. Something to keep in mind, if you start getting the muddiness, you could use a pedal switcher of...

Just thought I would share my rig with you guys!

****........you guys and your PRS guitars. You're all making me want one more and more. Nice rig BTW.

    My weekend pedalboard project.

Thanks. The risers under the pedals give better clearance for the connectors. On the pedal switcher especially, it give me room to angle them down more, otherwise I'd have to use straight connectors, which would take up alot more room. And on the pedals, the same thing, It allows me to angle the...

Excellent job!! Where did you get the plastic cable clips? I looked for some of those the other day, but didn't have any luck.

    My weekend pedalboard project.

Finally got around to working on this thing. It's not totally finished, I still need to add the KR Megavibe (When I get it), That's what the vacant spot on the back of the board is. I'll probably add some handles too, but for now it's fully functionable. Cables are all custom made to length. EB...

    Marshall JMP-1

I know what you mean about the bass shift. I think depending on what sort of gear is being connected, really plays a integral part on that. I've got so much stuff connected, multi-effects, eq's, pedal of all sorts, that there are so many variables, I don't even need the bass shift. I think that...

    Mixing

That is a perfect example of how room acoustics can affect a mix. If you're mixing in a room with inadequate sound treatment, or hyped up monitors, you will end up over compensating for certain frequencies, which will give you that result. Everything will sound awesome in the room you're mixing...

What's your favorite kind of strings and why?

That's interesting. I've never heard of that. Is this a custum jobber you did yourself, or does someone manufacture these commercially?

Straight or Slant cab for recording?

I tend to use my straight 1960b cab for recording more that my 1960a slant cab. I get better bass response from the straight. If I'm going to record a second guitar part, I might use the slant just to add some depth/dimension to the overall mix.

    Marshall JMP-1

I've had mine in my rig since '92 (I think), and I wouldn't think of getting rid of it. Not as good for cleans as some other preamps perhaps, but the crunch sounds are killer IMO. Especially running thru my Strategy 500. I have a TS9 that I run in front of the pre, and that really smooths out...

What's your favorite kind of strings and why?

I started using Dean Markley lites (.009-.042)about 20 years ago, and haven't turned back. They were the only brand that I found that really held up for me without breaking so often. Every so often I will try something new, just in case I find something I might like better. But for now it's Dean...

    WTB~Abunai2 and KR Megavibe

~Abunai 2 overdrive ~KR Megavibe Original (Pedal, not the rack) If anyone has one they are willing to part with, I could take them off your hands. Thanks Strategy500

Can you recommend me a good mic preamp?

Another vote here for the RNP. Been using mine for a couple years now. It's a great little pre, that would be hard to beat for the cost. I plan on getting the RNC next, and racking it up with the Funklogic face plate.

How to get rid of crunching sound from the knob?

Going through all the hassle of taking it apart to clean it, and put it back together, and still no guarantee it will work. Unless it's some special pot, that is hard to find a replacement for, to me it just seems easier to spend 5-10 bucks and replace it. Just my opinion.
