    anyone use a compressor?

I just recently switched from a Boss CS-3 to a Carl Martin compressor. Reason for the switch is that the Carl Martin model has an adjustable threshold and a LED indicator to display how much compression is occurring. I tried to use it in the FX loop of my MkIII with the threshold set high to...

Got my Mark III back from Mesa with IIC+ Mod!

Did the C+ mod change the tone of your Rhythm 2 channel? I'm considering having the C+ mod done to my blue stripe MkIII but don't want to change anything about my R2 channel. How much did the work cost with shipping?

What is this on my MkIII?

Thanks guys. All the input has been very helpful. The chassis in the picture is of a blue stripe MkIII long head from 12/88. From the information posted it sounds like the shim is typical on short heads and combos but only appears occasionally on long heads. Seems like anything could be par...

What is this on my MkIII?

Should I leave the shim as is or take it out? Or maybe replace the shim with one of an appropriate width so that the choke transformer isn't leaning. I don’t believe the shim could be doing any harm but you guys certainly know more than I do. The amp sounds incredible and works flawlessly so...

What is this on my MkIII?

Thanks for the info guys. I agree. It does look like the choke transformer was located incorrectly or the shim was too wide. The black dot MkIII I owned briefly didn't have this shim. Was this done only on later models? Ed

What is this on my MkIII?

Recently took the chassis out of my blue stripe MkIII long head to check the 'born on' date and clean it up a bit. Everything seemed normal with the exception of a wooden shim between two of the components (the output transformer and rectifier, maybe?). Can anyone help to explain what it's...

1985 MkIII Black Dot Simul-Class or 60/100 question

Thanks a million. I had to remove a power tube along with using a mirror and flash light to see the info but it was visible. Simul-Class is printed on the side of the 152019B OT. Thanks again.

1985 MkIII Black Dot Simul-Class or 60/100 question

My MkIII does not have a simul-class sticker or any other identification that it's a simul-class amp other than the EL-34s in the outer tube sockets. I've scanned this forum for similar questions and noticed an older amp with the letters 'sc' on the back of the chassis. Mine doesn't even have...
