If I'm putting together a cab for a 50w amp, and I want to make sure the cab can handle the amp. In this case should I just make sure the total wattage of the speakers in the cab is at least 50w, or should it be a little more for good measure? I've read a bit on this subject, but I can't find...
I'm looking for info on the different types of speakers you may find in different amps/cabs and how they differ in tone. Does any one know of a good site or thread I could look at? ..or give a quick rundown of what's out there and what they sound like?
I have a recto 2x12 cab and i'm looking for another 2x12 to go with it--maybe an Orange. I've heard good things about them. Anyone familiar with both cabs and how they compare to each other?
I have a Nomad 55 head, and on the 8 ohm output it says "combo spkr." Does this mean that this output will work with the speaker in any combo amp or only combo amps with an 8 ohm speaker? If it only works with 8 ohm combo speakers, I don't see why they would put "combo spkr" next to it. It...
I'm not planning on trying out all of these. I'm just trying to get a better understanding of how heads work with cabs.
What happens if you...
1. plug a 4 ohm cab into an 8 ohm insert?
2. plug an 8 ohm cab into a 4 ohm insert?
3. plug a 4 ohm cab and an 8 ohm cab into the same head but...
Does anyone know anything about the Epiphone So Cal 50?
http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Epiphone-So-Cal-50-Watt-Amp-Head?sku=480289
Most of what I've heard about it has been fairly positive but always saying "for the price." There's a Youtube review about it, but not much else. I...
I tried out a roadster yesterday. It was very nice. I had some concerns about it though:
The reverb in channels 3 & 4 was really subtle. I could hardly tell it was working. The sales guy said that's the way it's supposed to be. Is this true or could there be a problem with the one I tried...
I live in the states, and I will spend more if I'm happy with what I'm getting. As for tones: warm rich cleans for jazz, various types of dirty sounds for bluesy things, and various types of crunch for classic and modern rock.
What do you think about the dsl50? I play jazz, blues, classic rock, and modern rock. It doesn't have to do all of that, but it would be nice if it could do a good bit of it.
I'm not expecting to find one amp that can match any tone out there. If it existed I guess all the other manufacturers could stop making amps. Everyone would just buy the One. I like searching for my own tones, while being guided by the tones of artists I like. I'm just looking for some...
Ok, I can see that this is going to take quite a bit more amp trying to make a decision. How would you compare a 2x12 combo with a head of the same type and 2x12 cab?
Thanks for the advice. I'm not really expecting to match the tone I get from the Fender. If I use one amp for some things and the other amp for other things, that's fine. But if I can find an amp that can pretty much do both, that would be fine, too. ha.
So a head and 2x12 cab is pretty...
I'm looking for an amp to suppliment it. It's a Super Twin Reverb, and it's great for what it does. However, it doesn't do it all. I don't own anything Mesa, but I like every Mesa amp I've tried.
I like to play jazz, blues, classic rock, and modern rock. My favorite bands are Steely Dan...
