Did you also change the pre-amp tubes? If it's only affecting the Lead channel, it maybe the V3 tube, I'd also check the V2.

You can use the EQ to give you a boost. Set the EQ higher and then when you hit LD-EQ that'll be your boost. That is one way w/out using a pedal. I tend to use that method. There are also slight OD pedals you can use. Keep the gain low and the output high.

UPDATE: Heard back from Tube Depot. They said that EL34 rated at 43 (instead of 29) will have a later break up. So does this mean it is running colder? I still need to pop this in to test, but will it harm my amp? They consider middle rated for this tube from upper 20's to low 30's. So...

Depends on your definition of 'warmth'. It maybe your choice of tubes, or if you want power tube breakup at a reasonable volume, you can try an attenuator.

That's strange. I've been using them for about 5 years now in the PI slot, and I've yet to hear any noise. Did you use in a combo? I have it in a head on a 4X12 cab and I play pretty loud. Just wondering.

Mark IV 'A' revision models have 1 12AT7 in the V4 slot which is the reverb driver. You should NOT put a 12AX7 there. In the 'B' revision of the Mark IV, they are all 12AX7s. I am also currently running a combo of 6L6/EL34, but from time to time I do go back to all 6L6s. Just a matter of taste.

OK, I'm sorry if this is a stupid question, but I'm just not that familiar with the 6CA7. Is this an EL34 or a 6L6? The reason why I'm asking is that I have a MarkIV. Can these go in all the sockets (inner and outer) or just the outer like the EL34's. Thanks.
