Yeah, my amp's serial number is between 500 and 512. So it's a Rev. D? Is there a certian serial number that will designate the transformer as a "Mark III" transformer? Anything I should look for?

+1 I was looking at a Mark IVa Medium Head that had the Black Bronco Tolex and the same MESA/Boogie Logo as the name plate in your pic (not the Mark IVb "Boogie" faceplate). FWIW, the Mark IVa I was looking at did NOT have a serial number. It must have just "fallen off"... :roll:

Aslo, I tried the "black album settings" and "M" GEQ settings and it nailed the Black album tone. Check out a few of the vids on youtube. Someone actually separated all the individual guitar tracks. The most surprising IMO is the "Sad But True" track. James used a baritone guitar to thicken up...

You are right about the approach to "acheiving" these tones, but do you have pics do validate you claims of the gear used? I have never seen an Orange or Silverstar amp used by 'Tallica. I know that they have used Het's old Silvertone, but not a Silverstar. FWIW, I thought Het starting using...

I have the Straight 4 X 12 (with the half-slanted baffle), and I always wanted to have a straight baffle. I'n not sure why. What makes the Straight Cab/Slanted Baffle so appealing? I would like to know because I have one. Thanks!

IMO, if you have a C+, LEAVE IT ALONE! I guess I just feel that the C+ is the ultimate amp IMO, so I hate to see anyone try to mod or improve it. But to be more direct about your question, are you having problems getting a decent clean sound out of the amp?

Here are the things I did to fix the Mark IVs in the past (for you or anyone else that might have these same problems with their nMark IVs) - footswitch will not go to lead, no red led on footswitch or front of amp, footswitch feels good upon tap on switch, can be manualy switched with knob on...

Have you tried replacing tubes in your amp before? What tubes have you tried and what charateristics of the Mark IV do you think you want to improve when compared to your current setup?
