I have never owned a Mark IV. Having said that, I think that you can expect Mark IV mode to sound a lot like a IIC+ that has a graphic eq and PULL DEEP engaged. Especially if you switch it ever to Triode mode. I'm not aware of how much the preamp's lead channel evolved from IIC+ to the IV...

Yeah, it is super bright. I think it was an attempt to get as aggressive a sound as possible on models without an eq. If you're using the eq with a blue stripe, definitely keep the presence control at 2 or lower and it is fine, in my experience. It's a good amp, but honestly - they all are.

For some extra money, you can get the ++ made so that you can toggle it on and off. Mike B took mine and modded it so that PULL DEEP engaged ++ mode, and then modded the Mid knob to take over PULL DEEP control. I think that doing so was a bit of an imposition for him, but I was willing to pay...

If you are struggling with IIC+ mode, make sure your cabinet is on the floor. This is covered in the manual but it's easy to miss and it makes an enormous difference in how big your amp sounds in the room. From the manual: helpful hint #19 IMO, if your cab is on wheels, IV mode is better. But...

I totally agree with this. The one thing I'll say about the Roadster: it offers a huge array of modes. The TC-50 is more targeted, but the voicings it has are really good.
