Using guitar synth effects with a MarkIV..

Damn that sucks :( . I was hoping on using the MarkIV for some whacked-out synthy distorted tones (not the funky clean-tone 70s style stuff). Make for some interesting textures with its awesome distortion & unique graphic EQ. I'm sure that Kirk Hammett of Metallica used the Roland VG-8 with...

Using guitar synth effects with a MarkIV..

Is this okay? this may seem dumb, but I am not sure. Would a guitar synth effect unit sound fine in front of this amp? Or would it need to be in the effects loop? And if in the effects loop, would the effect need a buffer sort of thing to step down the signal so it will work okay? I've read...

    Removing tubes to reduce wattage...

A friend of mine did that with his Dual Recto and it sounded awesome, just "quieter". He played a Paul Gilbert song (and solo) at a concert and it was cool. I think he took out the two outer power valves.

    Stiletto Ace Clips?

What is "Comcast Cable"? :?: The reason I am searching for clips, is that I have the GuitarOne issue that has the review on this amp, but there was no CD supplied with it.

Help- building my own IIC+ preamp

Thanks Elpelotero. I want to contruct the same circuit as the MarkIIC+ preamp, but it doesn't matter too much if some parts aren't exactly the same. What transformer does the Mark IV use? Alot of the problems I'm having is that the circuit diagrams I have are a bit blurry read. Some of the...

Help- building my own IIC+ preamp

Hi folks, I tried posting this earlier but my browser crashed, yep and it was Firefox (which is odd). I'm an amateur/intermediate guitarist, I've outgrown my Roland Cube-30, my SansAmp pedal, and my Line6 Flextone II. I've had it with woofy cabs and modelling, I want to make my own tone. In...

    BBE Sonic Maximizer Question

I have the BBE Sonic Stomp Maximiser pedal. I'm still learning how to set it properly but it works quite well, helps to tighten the low end and prevent any fartyness in the top end. Haven't tried it with a Boogie amp yet though. If I can get a Mesa/Boogie I shall try it. I want to run two...

cheaper substitute for mesa rectifier tone?

Maybe the old Peavey 5150's? Dual Recto amps cost $4500+ new in Aus. The Rectoverb is $3000

    Just joined the Boogie Board

Hi folks, I just joined this message board, from a link posted at the Metallica Club message board. Well, being a fan of Metallica obviously makes me a fan of Mesa/Boogie amps. I love their crunchy sounds and like learning how they make them. Playing the guitar myself I'm also on the pursuit...
