Mark VII owners - how’s it going?

Did they give you a reason why they wouldn't look at it or work on it? Too old?

New member, 1 year Mesa Boogie owner

I have a Tsakalis Room #40 as well. Great pedal. I actually think the crunch setting on the Mark V with the gain and other controls set a certain way gives you a similar tone. I don't suck out all the mids on that channel, actually run it slightly in the boost mode and then dial it back ont...

What are Mesa Boogie going to do about the tube scarcity?

Thanks, I'm in the U.S. I think I'll probably just get the greys as they are the closest in the Mesa scale at least. This amp was definitely shipped with the blues though. I'll take another look around but I think the greys would probably be fine. Thanks again, just wanted to confirm. I'll...

What are Mesa Boogie going to do about the tube scarcity?

Hey bandit, So, after doing some research (I am not an amp or Mesa expert by any means, but I know some things) I realized that the Mark V:25 and most (if not all) Mesas are fixed bias. So, I think the AC GRY EL-84s would work, but I guess they would run a little less hot? Bottom line, I just...

What are Mesa Boogie going to do about the tube scarcity?

So I took the cage off of the back of my Mark V:25 and you can barely see the labeling on the EL-84 tubes anymore (after 3 years with moderate use, seems like the heat probably got to them, even a few months ago it was easier to read) and they actually say AC BLU. So now I don't know if the...

What are Mesa Boogie going to do about the tube scarcity?

Thanks for sharing. Pretty sure that is the correct tube. It says "AC Gray" or something like that on the label, so those are most likely the same. I'll take a look today, definitely worth ordering a backup set.

    Mark III+ KDRG (Listing Feedback)

Yeah, I would be very careful selling that on Reverb. Make sure you protect yourself as the seller.

What are Mesa Boogie going to do about the tube scarcity?

This amp is from 2020, right before the Gibson takeover. So, I probably won't need power tubes for a while. I only saw one set of EL-84s available, they seem like the same that are used in my Mark V, I'd have to remove the cage to see for sure.

What are Mesa Boogie going to do about the tube scarcity?

Does Mesa only make one set of EL-84s? Just wondering, I didn't see any different color coding when I looked. Kinda of looked like black on top of gray without removing anything. I just recently picked up a Mark V:25 so I doubt they will need replacing anytime soon, it was made in 2020.

I would love one of those 4x12's with the yellow and black stripes - especially the diagonal pattern.

Mesa Boogie Mark V 25 with 10" speaker?

The 10" speaker sounds great, and why not have the combo option? Its so small you can plug it into a big cab if you want to. Still, for some reason it doesn't sound boxy to me and has plenty of cojones.

Hooking up MarkV combo to 2x12 extension

That's actually a good question. I wonder if it would be ok to just use that speaker off toggle if you had another 8 ohm or 4 ohm load. The stock creamback speaker in the combo is 8 ohms so if the jack isn't working, then the speaker in your combo is not working, or you have it plugged into...

Replacement reverb rank suggestions for Mark V

The spring reverb on my Princeton is spectacular. It is a 65' reissue, but one of the FSRs with a 12" speaker. It has a nice big tank in the bottom of the combo, and is very lush. Starts getting into ambient territory around 5. The reverb tank in the Mark V:25 combo is closer to the reverb...

Replacement reverb rank suggestions for Mark V

Just get a reverb pedal that you like and throw it in the loop.

    Reverb.com IS NOT TRUSTWORTHY!

I know from a relative that Etsy does not treat sellers well anymore - she has been using it as a platform to sell her custom jewelry for years. Take that as you will..... I have used reverb for pedals the most part, but I did buy a guitar once with no issues. Seller did a great job packaging...

    Boost suggestions for Mark V

Have you tried running the Soldano pedal in the FX loop to bypass the preamp? Might not be necessary if you just use the clean channel, but I just got a Mashall in a box I'd like to try out this way. Soldano pedal seems awesome.

    Anybody using a Euna?

I'd lower the gain on the fat channel significantly. Maybe down below 9 o'clock. If the pedal has EQ, that could cause gain overload too, depending on the frequencies it boosts. But the gain lower than 12 o'clock on FAT mode should help.

OFFICIAL MARK V TONE SETTINGS THREAD

Try the fat mode in channel 1. I like the strat on that channel, you can drive it a bit to get it to the edge of breakup. For the high gain stuff, I like the IIC+ and IV the best with single coils or humbuckers.

    Boogie Mark V brown sound

Does the Channel 2 with "Crunch" on the 90 watt have a mid-boost? Dialed this in on my V:25 and it sounds amazing. Only difference was I added some more mids in the preamp section.

    Mark V25...Mark IV channel

It's not you, I think that is how it sounds. I liked it more than the Xtreme and IIC+, but now I'm really liking the IIC+, with similar settings. I think both IIC+ and IV sound better than the Xtreme, but I need to really try to dial in the Xtreme before I make bold comments. I still think...
