NAD! Mark IV - can anyone tell me a little about it?

Your tolex is way different than mine. The IV's lead channel smokes the V.

Best Chorus Pedal to use in FX Loop?

Boss CE-5 nails the Metallica clean tone.

MArk V specific patches for TC G Major 2 unit

I have 2 questions - 1) If the effects loop is bypassed on the footswitch, will the GM2 still be able to switch channels? Or does the loop have to be engaged at all times? 2) Did you use just regular old guitar cables or do you need something special?

MArk V specific patches for TC G Major 2 unit

Are you positive it's safe to use the relays on the GM2 to change channels on your V?

I've come to an interesting conclusion about the MarkIIC+...

    You're correcting the company?

I got a Mark V so what's the next best thing?

Put the chorus out front before the Big Shot. I think chorus sounds better upfront anyway.

G Major 2 and Mark V Hook Up

By effects loop output do you mean the loop return?

    Mark V good enough?

Make sure you turn the gain down a smudge on both amps when running in stereo - if there's too much gain it can start to sound/feel mushy. You won't notice the gain drop since it's going to sound so much more brutal.

Mesa Mark V - Metallica Tone

I'm the one who starts this thread. I picked up a Mark IV a few months back and the V has been collecting dust. I just can't get over how much better Channel 3 is in the IV.

    Road King.

A TS-9 really does wonders for a Recto. It helps lower some of the bass while tightening everything up. To me it makes a huge difference.

    Mark V good enough?

I own a Triple Rec, a Mark IV and a Mark V. Yes, the Mark IV will do Hetfield's tone better than the V - no contest - it's way more aggressive, saturated and ballsy than the V. While I love the V, Channel 3 falls just short of nailing that tone IMO. I owned the V for 3 years before picking a IV...

    Mesa headshell pricing

The stock black Mark IV head shell will run you around $300 direct from Mesa. Once you start adding custom colors the price jumps up exponentially. I want to say changing the tolex color increases it by $80 and changing the grill to wicker is something outrageous.

Metallica Lords of Summer studio demo

I like the opening and the main riff but then the song spirals into boredom. It's way too long. The drums are dreadful.

I’m after two tones - early Meshuggah and A Perfect Circle

I think they're using Ax-Fx's now but here's their older signal chain. A Mark won't do a Recto tone spot on but can get kinda close in Extreme mode on a Mark V or with the right EQ on a Mark IV. The Mark IV is way more aggressive than any of the Mark V modes...

Has anyone traded their Mark V In for a Dual or Triple Rec?

I've got a Triple Rec, a Mark IV and a Marl V. Maybe I lucked up and bought a gem but my Mark IV is THE Hetfield sound bar none. Tight, aggressive and huge sounding. The Mark V's Mark IV mode is kind of wimpy sounding by comparison. Now the real magic and black album tone come from playing the...

Has anyone traded their Mark V In for a Dual or Triple Rec?

You mention Metallica but Hetfields tone IS the Mark tone.

I’m after two tones - early Meshuggah and A Perfect Circle

I can nail Howerdell's tone with my Mark V (IV mode), a little chorus up front and a Les Paul in C# loaded with a Duncan JB. I can't get anywhere close to APC with my Triple Rec, it's too loose/grainy.

    DC2 Lead Compression

That's because the DC-2 sucks. I owned one for over a decade. Trying to compare it to a Mark or Express is going to leave you chasing your tail.
