    Boogiebabies?

What happened to make the C+'s go for such ridiculously high prices on the market? Imo, they aren't any better than any other high gain amp. Soldano, Driftwoods to name a couple. Nice to see ya back BB!

    Recall the 2:90's Mesa!

Browsing old threads on many issues w/ the 2:90. That pop and thump cannot be fixed switching between Half Drive. And the other voices as well. Not to mention the issue with the melting plastic clip from PT. It is currently Sept. 2nd, 2022. I just finished talking with tech at Mesa. Said this...

2:90 pops when 1/2 drive is engaged

Old thread here, I understand. But that pop and thump cannot be fixed. It is currently Sept. 2nd, 2022. I just finished talking with tech at Mesa. Said that "it cannot be fixed cause it changes voltages in driver tube. Sorry. " So, let me get this clear. Mesa markets a piece of gear knowing...

    Tubes to hot?

I'm confused. So you don't use a fan now? Or you removed it for installation. Man, I wish I can see a pict.

    Tubes to hot?

Hey brother, are you comfortable removing the cover of your 2:90 ? I have had mine powered down for a few weeks or so. I put it on the bench. I took some continuity measurements and I'm getting continuity where I believe I shouldn't be and I don't have anyone locally that owns one to compare...

    Tubes to hot?

Mine has no grill. But my tubes on channel B definitely run hotter to touch. I have no experience with TAD tubes. Did you mod your 2:90 to put the grill on?

    Tubes to hot?

With the fan hitting channel A the most, one would think that those tubes would last longer than the tubes on ch.B . But it may not matter. Some boogies don't have any cooling fans.

    50/50 Power Amp Tube Layout

Ty for you input. Ola on YT tried these speakers. They blue label something, dang, can't recall , that's awful. They may be eminence. I have to go back and check. I kinda liked them.

    50/50 Power Amp Tube Layout

Hey brother, no worries. You have OCD to eh? I'm the same way. If I had to do it over, I wudda got a 50/50 instead of the 2:90. 50/50 is a lot less maintenance. I did a total recap on it plus repaired some circuits. What a pain and time consuming job that was lifting the PCB. Ugh! I'm kinda...

    50/50 Power Amp Tube Layout

Yw brother. Just curious, what's going on inside that you want to verify this? If you're anything like me, I'm a need to know guy lol. I trace out my amps to make sure that they are consistent with the schematics. I found a couple of errors. No biggy.

    50/50 Power Amp Tube Layout

To me , that would be correct. I have a 2:90 and I would assume its the same. If viewing like you are, from rear, tube on far left would be input tube for both channels. V1. Next to right is V2 PI tube and so on.

    Factory Mesa 2:90 Bias Setting

You're good. It only takes em a few min to redplate. I'm glad it worked out well for you. I may have to try the WCG's because I love more mids. Every now and then peek back when powered up just to make sure things are groovy. As you probably know, when one does redplate, you'll hear that hum...

    Factory Mesa 2:90 Bias Setting

I'm 99.999999% certain that its normal for some power tubes to give off a blue hue. I have a set of Preferred Series power tubes that give off a blue hue. Though yours are a lil vivid, I think they're fine. This is normal . Its the electrons inside the tube . Even tho your previous 420's didnt...

    Factory Mesa 2:90 Bias Setting

Great reply. You're very well versed. That formula for determining MPD seems pretty easy. I used it for my C+ . it always came up a bit cold. I believe 6L6's are 25 watts and EL's are 30 . I read were mesa likes to try to reach the 70% MPD. Some ppl think that's a bit hot. I guess it comes to...

    Factory Mesa 2:90 Bias Setting

I'm no amp tech but have lots of hands on experience. Please, any tech correct me . I'm a sponge wanting to learn. I believe the voltage present on pin three will be the same with or without a tube in.
