    Mark iic+ misbehaving

Great!! Always check preamp tubes first. You are correct regarding a " missing" preamp tube. Reverb. I think having one dedicated 12ax7 for verb and lead is a blessing. Much easier to troubleshoot. The MK III and MK IV have dedicated tubes for lead and verb. Maybe others. When Randall, Mike and...

    Mark iic+ misbehaving

Blessings everyone. There are no cathode follow circuits in the preamp. Did it start after inserting new JJ's? No worries, I use them too 👍. If you can find Jay Omega here, he's very knowledgeable on C+'s. Have the tube sockets been cleaned? Power and preampies? If choosing to troubleshoot w/...

    Mark IIB to IIC+ Conversion

Thats one facet that I never experienced. The digital realm. That is a plug in ? I've read where ppl love em or not so much. Ty for sharing! 👍👌

    Mark IIB to IIC+ Conversion

Does the above mods apply to the IIB ? There are similarities to the C+ schematic by JRB32. I tried the V2 B mod on the C+ schematic. I tried a 2.2uf tantulum with the 1.5kR . I really didnt notice much in the way of tonal differences just a slight increase in white noise .

1987 Mark III Red Stripe DRG - Channel 2 and 3 Unwanted Noise

Thank you. Sounds like he may have lowered the verb plate resistors values.

1987 Mark III Red Stripe DRG - Channel 2 and 3 Unwanted Noise

Ty. Reason I ask is my C+ verb sounds kinda meh! Thin and harsh, if that makes sense.

Great!! May I ask what the reverb issue was? Thanks. Jim

How to understand the circuit board from schematics IIc+

Though I don't have much experience with the sp11 , lots of experience with the rp11, after viewing V3 , it appears that this amp does not have the bright reduction mod. This amp has some very neat and tidy lead dressing.

I want one when you're finished!! I'll put my order in now! 😉👍

    Mark IIB to IIC+ Conversion

That's interesting. The ground leads on power board all go to chassis ground. So why move it to a different ground pad? I'm learning. Thanks for your patience. Jim

    EQ switch variants

Greetings. I'm in that same dilemma. Is anyone brave enough to open her up and verify where the 3 EQ leads attach to pcb and their colors? It has to be a RP11A board ( I think) . Of the 3 leads from switch, one goes to the first trace that has a diode and a 3.3k resistor. Another lead goes to...

    Mark IIB to IIC+ Conversion

Don't understand. You're building it exactly to specs. Bad Vactrol?

    Mark IIB Tonestack

Old post. But with my C+, the mid and bass hardly noticable. Only thing treble pot does in my amp is just increases signal.

Mark III blue stripe redplating, quick diagnosis and repair

Ty for your reply! No. It wasn't dusty. Also, I was leaning towards your other theory of residual coating left behind. I've thoroughly cleaned the boards many times. That just bothers me due to the placebo affect. Am I imagining my amp not sounding like it used to prior? Blessings, Jim

    Mark VII?

I m not gonna think of any technicalities as to why but I would think it would affect the effects in your loop. I would love to see an accurate schematic of a V. I also would like to know where the verb is placed. I need a schematic. An accurate one. EQ prior to the loop may affect the effects...

Mark III blue stripe redplating, quick diagnosis and repair

Ty Jeff! I tested all of my OD's that I can in my amp for DC leakage when fully powered. They all tested fine. Now as you mentioned, I really shouldn't be concerned with ESR with the OD's? What if my amp had a voltage spike or some other accident? A while back after I recapped it, my stupid...
