Reverb plug in on a Boogie?

It'll do absolutely no harm if you plug them in backwards so try it both ways. It'll sound right one way, and not the other. Easy.

Should Mesa Boogie reissue the Mark IIC+ ?

I've always been super protective of my hearing and it hasn't changed much. Surprisingly my hearing test results have barely changed. I can still hear up to 17 KHz. But I'll put on ear protection when running anything louder than a cordless screw gun.

Where would one go to to test old tubes to see if they are still good?

Get a GOOD tube tester that has been well maintained and send it to a specialist who rebuilds and recalibrates them. Then you can test tubes yourself. My slightly modded B&K 707 tells me almost everything about a tube that I want to know. If it also includes noise figure measurements, it'd...

Should Mesa Boogie reissue the Mark IIC+ ?

What makes you think that a reissue would necessarily sound different than the originals? Have the laws of physics changed in the last 40 years? Have the component manufacturers forgotten how to make capacitors and resistors the same way they were made back then? No, there's no reason to...

What to do with a non functioning 1964 Fender Bandmaster

I'd rebuild it correct to original specs. I've done a few.

Should Mesa Boogie reissue the Mark IIC+ ?

Considering how well Marshall's "reissues" of the 1959 Superlead/Plexi have done for Marshall, I don't think there would be any problem with a serious attempt at a IIC+ reissue doing well and being very satisfying to its buyers. Marshall's closest attempts at Plexi reissues are well regarded...

Should Mesa Boogie reissue the Mark IIC+ ?

Mesa has always operated on the principle that it is better to have a backlog of orders than surplus production capacity lying idle, which has a fixed cost to it. Randall Smith has run a very tight ship at Mesa and this is why Mesa has never had to go through a bankruptcy in its 50 year...

Should Mesa Boogie reissue the Mark IIC+ ?

Granted, the reissue would be expensive....but people would pay. Do a limited run of 500 of them, priced at 5000 dollars each, they'll sell every last one of them and probably have deposits on all of them by the end of the first week after opening the order book. As for tubes, I'm seriously...

Mark III repair, volume and tone controls not working properly

So my Mark III blue stripe long head (My favorite amp EVER!!!) went weird some time ago, but not TOO weird, I was able to live with it and still get my tone out of it, or at least MOST of that tone. I figured I'd put it on the bench and check it out when I got good and ready to. Symptoms...

Should Mesa Boogie reissue the Mark IIC+ ?

I guess "I'm out" only means "Until I see another comment I disagree with and can't let slide"...but without presenting any EVIDENCE for the basis of the disagreement. There are rules to a debate. One of which is to DEBATE, to present evidence, even personal accountings of your point of view...

    Awesome Tone at Lower Volume

The notion that more drivers means more output is based on the simple fact that you're using the same power to move more air by moving more cone surface area. If you had a 1024 driver cabinet, never mind the logistical and structural concerns, then yes it would be 3 db louder than a 512...

Should Mesa Boogie reissue the Mark IIC+ ?

Oh, I know quite well what I'm talking about. I've owned Mesa amps since the mid 80s and I've been an electronics technician my entire life. I know what's what. Yes, transformers make a large difference to the tonal options available. If there's a black art in tube amp design, it's in the...

Should Mesa Boogie reissue the Mark IIC+ ?

The notion that the sound is in unique special components that aren't made anymore is bogus. Or another word with the letters B and S in it. Caps? Orange drops. Still made today by CDE. Resistors? Same Vishay resistors made in '78 are still made today. Anybody who wants a Mark II or III...

Should Mesa Boogie reissue the Mark IIC+ ?

That's the problem. We know that the schematic Mesa offers isn't the actual IIC+ schematic. Maybe THEY don't have an accurate schematic to go by?

    Awesome Tone at Lower Volume

All else being equal, doubling the number of speakers will increase the acoustic output by 3 dB. So you can knock off 6 dB by going down from a 4x12 to a 1x12.

front of amp or FX loop?

I run rack effects in the loop, and if I use a pedal at all, it's in the input jack. The loop almost always has an Alesis DEQ-230 digital programmable 31 band EQ in it. This is used to fine tune the tone to absolute perfection. General rule, time based effects after distortion...

Should Mesa Boogie reissue the Mark IIC+ ?

I also don't buy into that "we can't get the transformers" line. So they may have to use a specific varnish and the original varnish is not available anymore because it has some banned chemical in it or something. So what? There are alternatives. It's not like you can't get transformers...

Mark III as a One channel amp and never look back

I never have any use for R2. I do use the clean and lead channels.

Does anyone know a source for replacement faders? Or a fix for broken tabs?

If you are feeling brave enough to disassemble one of the faders, the slider could be reverse engineered and a new one 3D printed. Or have a part 3D printed that would restore the broken shaft. Another alternative would be to try to find some other faders of the same series on the surplus parts...
