Speaker for the Mesa Mark V: 35??? Any thoughts???

Knowing this is a necro thread....the only way to pick speakers is by trying them. Fortunately most speakers hold their value pretty well on the used market so you can buy and sell used speakers on reverb and basically get your money back out of them and you're only out shipping costs.

New guy here with possible mark 2 c +

What's available if you ask people directly vs. what's formally on the "menu" are two different things. This holds true in many fields.

Mark III blue stripe redplating, quick diagnosis and repair

Could you do me a favor and post a photo of the bias circuit section of your Blue Stripe? I just want to confirm the stock resistor values in the bias circuit, as I aim to reverse the adjustable bias mod that was done to mine.

Which Boogie Channel does the best Mesa-fied version of the JCM800 tone?

Probably you'll want to find a Stiletto which is built along the lines of the classic Marshall topography.

    Something new on the way?

I had a Mark IVB and honestly I think the Mark V does everything it does, as well as if not better than the Mark IVB. I feel like I've lost nothing by trading up to the V. However I did spend less time deep diving into the IV than any other Mesa I've ever owned, in fact I only had it for one...

    Something new on the way?

Do as you wish. Incidentally, I believe that Mesa is not partially owned by Gibson, Mesa is ENTIRELY owned by Gibson. Which does not bother me at all. So long as they don't cheapen the amps, it's fine by me. Life is too short to spend it butthurt over who owns what. That's just petty...

Wanted Mark V Suggested Settings Card comes on top of Amp Needed

If you have high res versions of those scans, will you make them available for transfer via email? The board places severe limits on how big a photo can be posted. Quality suffers as a result.

Putting together a Mark III Guide

It'll cost me some money but I'd like to eventually have one Mark III of every stripe color. Even better if they're all in the same configuration. (DRG)

Mark III blue stripe redplating, quick diagnosis and repair

Not sure if I actually even have any caps that small right now. I recently purged my parts inventory of everything I wasn't using in guitar amp work, but really, what does it even matter when talking about parts you won't even need in a guitar amp? The smallest cap I've checked so far was 25...

Mark III blue stripe redplating, quick diagnosis and repair

I will say that this little meter may not be outstanding below 100 pF but I haven't had cause to check any caps that low in value. They aren't typically found in tube amps.

Believe what you want. I'll believe the results I'm getting based on the evidence right in front of my face..

Mark III blue stripe redplating, quick diagnosis and repair

I've found these little component testers to be remarkably accurate, in fact, mine are apparently accurate to about 2 percent, based on measurements of some ultra high precision components I have, such as a 11,993 ohm resistor with a tolerance of .05%. They're certainly very good at measuring...

Mesa Color Code Plate Current Values (420 vs 440)

Not sure how it matters tonally, but if you are likely to run your amp turned up high for an extended period of time, you might be better off to pick a cooler temperature range of power tubes because they're going to run cooler overall than a hotter tube range. This can make it a bit less...

Wanted Reverb/EQ footswitch for Mark III

Anybody got a spare Mesa original Reverb/EQ footswitch for a Mark III you want to part with?

Mark III blue stripe redplating, quick diagnosis and repair

I'm not going to offer opinions on how component changes will alter the tone of the amp. I would always try it and decide for myself.

    Mesa Mark

The closest match to it that sold on Reverb recently was only a 60 watter, in a blonde tolex cabinet, and it sold for 2000 dollars. I'd expect this to be worth more than that, being a 100 watter. And with the export/multivoltage transformer, and an EV. It's loaded! So...it should bring...

    NAD: Blue Angel

OK, I've actually had this amp for about a week now. Blue Angel 1x12 combo, bought it and had it shipped from Nashville to me down here in FL. I'd been wanting one since they were pretty new and still in production but didn't have the money for one at the time. So I've been watching and...

Wanted Mark V Suggested Settings Card comes on top of Amp Needed

My Mark V 90 head and my 2x12 horizontal cab still have the inspection tags on the handles. For some odd reason I don't want to take them off. For me that's just WEIRD.

Mark III blue stripe redplating, quick diagnosis and repair

I use Panasonic ECW series caps. They're great. Nothing against orange drops, but put in Panasonics and you'll never know the difference. If anything, the Panasonic caps are more reliable. I view Panasonics as my baseline bypass and coupling caps. I keep them in values for every amp I'm...
