Epiphone Les Paul Custom from stock to FRX equipped.

Let me know if the FRX remains stable. I haven’t had the time to redo the setup to see if I can figure out why mine stops a couple of cents flat returning from a dive. I did notice that the tension screw is not centered in the base, it’s off to one side. It’s not rubbing but I think this has...

    NAD!

Nice MKIV! Good price too IMO. But you’re breaking my heart storing your Roadster on the floor with no cover tho 🤣🤣🤣 Dom

Rectoverb 25 problem with reverb when amp/tubes are getting warm

Welcome to the forum. It looks like you’ve got us stumped. Hopefully bumping this tread will get it noticed. Dom

Mark VII owners - how’s it going?

Definitely see if there is a Mesa certified tech within driving distance. I was lucky that there is one within a 45 min drive away, well worth the trip. I found him when I needed warranty work on my Roadster, came recommended by Mesa. He is now working a full time job as an electronics engineer...

    Anybody used EMG passives?

You can’t use the active pots, they are only 25K ohm. You will need to swap out to the EMG 500K pots. I thought they sounded good clean and with OD/Rock tones, but just don’t deliver when really pushing the gain. I felt they were good enough to hold onto though, and now that I’m moving...

Lack of bass en dual rect

I use naphtha and denatured alcohol everywhere. The naphtha flashes off nice, and doesn’t hurt guitar finishes and most common materials, but on a PCB I stick to the alcohol as much as I can. BTW don’t try to clean a Roadster’s face plate with alcohol, well isopropyl at least. I was out of...

    Anybody used EMG passives?

I had their Rev set in a guitar for awhile. I think EMG has the best no solder system period. I do remember when they only had that at the pickup, you still had to solder the pots, switch and jack. You’ll still have to change the pots, but at least it’s a super easy and fast change. Dom

Single rectifiers, why no rectifier tube???

It’s all just marketing, is the Big Mac really all that big? Loved the Deluxe analogy! Dom

    it aint easy being green

Nice rig! I’ve always been curious about the earlier non-Mark amps, that specimen is truly worthy of its name. I can’t wait to hear your impressions of the amp. I would love to try one myself, as well as the F series, DC series, & Nomad. Dom

    NGD - LTD Eclipse EC256

Had a great rehearsal yesterday, played the Eclipse 80% of the session. I can’t get over how well this guitar plays. The LTD neck is just a bit thicker than the 60’s slim taper neck on my ‘13 Gibson LP. It sounds great too, plenty of body and sustain, notes are clear. However, the FRX is...

Lack of bass en dual rect

The advantage with acetone is that it will flash off quickly, but yes you don’t want it to get onto anything plastic. Denatured alcohol would work in a situation like this, as well as the blue tack and masking tape. Dom

    Express hiss no biggie

That must be some loud hiss to be heard over the mix of the entire recording. Yes, I go out of my way to reduce hiss in my rig, I’ve got a NG out front and in the FX Loop to help squash it in the high gain settings. But I’m sure Pete Townsend and Angus Young didn’t let hiss stop them from...

Searching for Mark V90 Chan.2 Master pot.

Welcome to the forum. Have you checked the pot for any markings? It may have the type and value right on it. If the pot is not physically damaged you can measure the total resistance across the outer lugs. You can determine taper by measuring from wiper (center) lug to one of the outer...

Lack of bass en dual rect

Welcome to the forum. I’m guessing this is a used amp? If yes you should at the least put in new power tubes, 6L6GC. What model Dual Rectifier is this? 2-channel? 3-channel 100W? 3-channel multi-watt? What kind of cabinet are you using? How many speakers does it have? Open-back or...

Welcome to the forum! It might not be the cabinet as much as the speakers in the cabinet. Which model Blackstar cabinet do you have? Do you know what speakers are inside the cab? Dom
