Yea, I'd agree WRT PUs. My IIC+ Ch 1 gets gritty pretty quick. Can't set it near 7 :( more like 5 and yea you can't slam the input at all. A compressor, which sounds sparkly on the LSS just breaks up on the IIC+ acts almost like a boost pedal.

Yea for sure. So it looks like the VII (which sadly I do not have... yet) has the bias switch for el34s, but noticed there's no variac mode option. So no requirement as with the V. Badlander is like the VII, just a bias switch even though it has a variac mode. Both for the V & VII in Simulclass...

An update of sorts to the OP, went thru another round of swapping speakers in cabs, seems to be a bi-yearly event :LOL:. Wanted to try what I had lying around first before forking for a new speaker even though the ever present speaker GAS was strong. Ended up pulling the v30 out of the horz...

A longshot but you could try one other simple test. Change the speaker impedance to see if anything in the current scenario sounds different. If it's a combo and the speaker jack is in the 8ohm out try switching it to the 4 ohm out. There sometimes can be issues with load matching and the power...

FWIW... from what I can tell briefly looking at the schems is M3, mode 3 relay for "Tweed mode" brings in C7 and R216. The tube voltages don't change for Tweed mode so there's probably not much else going on with it circuit wise. It may be one of the component areas to look at. In my V:90 Tweed...

Ok just one opinion here. So much depends on the type of music you play, in this case metal / spanish. I have a custom vertical 2x12 built very similar to the old style vert 2x12 with a closed bottom and semi open top. A Mesa EVM went into the bottom and I tried a few different ones in the top...
