    Are F100 's unpopular

I've had my F-100 for over three years now and it has been a great ride. I don't think anyone really needs a 100 W Mesa, but I wanted a lot of clean headroom and I preferred the tones on the F-100 over every other Mesa amp including the F-50/30. Here is my rig:

Mesa Boogie F-30 enough clean headroom?

I'm not sure about the tone, but the Eminence Red Coat Red Fang has a sensitivity of 103 dB SPL 1W/1m meaning, the clean with this speaker would be comparable to 44 W with the vintage 30. The V30 has a 100 dB SPL rating. Red Fang

MESA nameplate logo for recto cab...

I can design a custom nameplate for you if you'd like. IMO that's way cooler than a regular nameplate. It won't be embossed lettering like the real deal, but will look just as cool and can be made of metal or plastic. We could make something like this: Send me an email...

Mesa Boogie F-30 enough clean headroom?

Johnny P, welcome to the forum! :) The F-30 is rated for 22 W RMS with (2) EL-84 tubes in class-AB. The reason it gets the "30" designation is partially marketing, but mostly because the patented dynawatt power section can deliver bursts of power similar to a 30 W amplifier. I have no doubt...

    F30 vs F50

Danny, welcome to the F-series brotherhood. :) I think you'd be pleased with either of the F-30 or F-50 for clean tones, it just depends on what kind of clean tones you like best. I personally prefer the Blackface Fender clean tones, so the F-100 gives me that in spades. If you like a more...

Mesa F-series FX Loop Mix Pot Master Volume

I imagine the loops are probably the same, but the Lone Stars already have an overall master, so it probably won't sound any different. But, I suppose it's worth a try. BTW, to test out the trick, you can just use two ordinary 1/4" instrument cables. Plug one cable into the FX send and the...

Mesa F-series FX Loop Mix Pot Master Volume

Brewski, curiosity is good! I think it improves the amp's tone at any volume actually, but it really helps at bedroom levels as well. I prefer loop attenuation (via G-Major) for low volume playing over using my Hot Plate at least on the F-100.

Mesa F-series FX Loop Mix Pot Master Volume

Since IMO the F-series sounds better when the preamp masters are above 9:00, I came up with a simple solution using the FX mix pot and two 1/4" connectors. Of course, this only works if you’re not using the loop. If you are using the loop, you should be able to do the same function by...

How not to lose my Hearing!

These are the best non-custom earplugs you can get for playing music. The have a very even frequency response. I've been using these for 3 years now and I can hear myself loud and clear for practice and gigs. I NEVER play with my drummer without these in.

    advice to fix/replace black grille

Hi Elpelotero, what amp are you repairing the grill on? Like Dann'sTheMan said (Thanks for the name check Andy), I recently redid the grill cloth on my F-100. I bought a yard of Mesa Tan Jute grill cloth from Vibroworld which was $34.50. So, if you follow the tutorial I posted, it should be a...

Performing with an F50 ? can you share your live experience

I play in an alternative rock band in Ft Lauderdale. Most of the venues we play have a house PA, so we're usually mic'ed. I suppose most are capable of holding 200-300 people. That being said, I usually run my amp right at the level of my acoustic drummer which is loud enough that I never...

Can You Use The Slave To Record Into A Computer

You're going to need a cab sim for that. I suggest the Behringer Ultra-G. It's hard to beat for $35 and sounds good. You can also use it like this: Amp Speaker Out >> speaker cable >> Ultra-G >> speaker cable >> Speakers. Then, the line out of the Ultra-G will go into your sound card. Just...

    F-30 for crunchy metal sound

The F-30 is Class A/B as are the rest of the F-series. Dyna-watt refers to a patent Randall Smith obtained that pumps up the volume in overdrive to seem like it's a 30 watt amp. In reality, the clean of the F-30 is rated for 22 W out of (2) EL-84s in class A/B. Regardless of the power rated...

    F30 Tone Controls

Try out my settings, and see if you can hear a difference. Also, note the position of the master volume for each setting. Finally, read the manual. Mesa does a good job explaining how everything works including the treble, mid and bass interactivity.

    What's wrong with it?

    Master volume?

All of Mesa's amps cut power before the output stage by using a simple pot. All it does is knock down the voltage level to the phase inverter, thus driving the output tubes less. The other companies with post output stage masters aren't really master volumes in the traditional sense, but...

    Maybe the F100 is overkill ! ?

I've had my F-100 2x12 combo for over three years now and it's been a great ride. I bought the F-100 because I liked the clean tone better than the F-50's simply because of the tighter deeper low end and insane headroom. On overdrive, there is a bit more bass on the F-100, but otherwise they...
