If I were to make it...

Yeah, you'd have to make it. Of course, if you're going to make the rest of the switch too, the cable should be pretty simple. :)

    Stiletto Ace-vs-F-50

Well, they completely different voicings, so if you lean towards British tone, then the Ace may be for you. Don't worry about the "Jack of all trades and master of none" comments. Every channel-switcher eventually gets labeled that way. :) Is there something bothering you about the F-50?

If I were to make it...

You have four independant functions to switch. If each plug could share ground AND you wanted to switch all of them at the same time, you could split a single 1/4" plug into four, but then again, you could do that now with your existing switch. That's not very useful though. :) Basically, you...

If I were to make it...

The number of pins you need is based on how each jack works. If each jack can share ground, then a five pin plug will work great (4 functions + Ground). If not, then you'll probably need 8 connections, which is why the CAT5 cable is useful. I don't particularly care for the plastic RJ-45 end...

Making my F30 sound like a fender?

Well, you have the right preamp since the clean channel is modeled off the Fender Blacface circuit. It's the output stage that isn't helping though. Perhaps an EQ in the loop will give you the stout lower end and scooped clean of a Blackface that you're missing? Or, maybe you could upgrade to...

If I were to make it...

The 5-Pin is only for the footswitch to make it easier for connection. The other side of that cable will have to be four (4) 1/4" plugs to go into each function jack. Yup, the switches need to be latching. All that means is once you switch it to the alternate position it stays there until you...

If I were to make it...

Single Pole Single Throw (SPST) like those from Carling will work fine for what you're doing. You'd probably be best served to use a multi-pin connector like a 5-Pin DIN (used on modern Mesas). The other side of the 5-pin cable will need four (4) 1/4" plugs. I'm not sure if the footswitch...

Whats the next step from an F-50?

No, IMO, the F-50 has just about the best cleans that Mesa has ever made (tied with the Lone Star). The Rectoverb still has good cleans though, but the Recto distortion is really the reason to buy the amp. You may also like to consider running a preamp into your F-50 like the Mesa Studio Pre...

Give the Mesa Rectoverb 1x12 a try.

My Mesa F-50 is dead...need help!

That's great that you found the problem and lousy that the speaker selection is so sparse. The C90 is NOT similar to the G12T-75. IMO, the G12T-75 is a bassy shrill speaker with a hollow midrange, and is better suited to Marshall amps. IIRC the C90 is Mesa's version of a Celestion Classic...

    Transporting your Mesa tube amp.

I put my F-100 combo in the backseat of my car facing up. I've never had a problem. Make sure to let the amp cool down after you play before you move it.

    Nomad 55 custom grill question

That would be me. :) It looks as if the Nomad's grill is attached from the inside of the cab. So, while the disassembly is different, I've not doubt that changing the grill cloth will be the same. If you take a close look at the guts of the Nomad near the inside of the grill, I'm sure it will...

My Mesa F-50 is dead...need help!

When you had the Mesa tubes in the amp, did the 6L6s glow blue on the outer edge with Standby off (sound coming from speakers)? If so, or if the current tubes show that high voltage is applied, you should be able to tell if the output section is muted. If everything is running normal on my...

    Mark IV practice settings, help!

I made it from scratch as part of my graphic design business. I can make you a front panel with your settings when I have some time. I'd need you to tell me the position of every control you see so it can be accurate.

    My Latest Gig Rig Rendering...

Thanks. :) I like the Tonebone a lot. It's one of the few OD pedals that doesn't seem like an OD. It melds into my rig just like another channel on my F-100. I have it setup for a overdrive solo tone. Yup, I have added the Germania and Tonebone recently. I used to have an all-pedalboard...

    f-50 question

Actually, 12:00 on the master with the gain up to around 12:00 is roughly the highest volume you'll get. After that, you'll just get more power tube and phase inverter saturation. Part of the problem with playing that loud is that your ears are more sensitive to treble, so harsh is par for the...

Mesa F-100 Heavy Clips - Silent Direct Recording

Thanks fredster! :) Yup, the POD 2.0 doesn't have the capability to turn off the amp models. My Tonelab doesn't either sadly. :( I've been looking at selling my XTL and replacing its functionality with a Toneport UX2 which will also give me two mic preamps and a host of other cool stuff.

Mesa F-100 Heavy Clips - Silent Direct Recording

Thanks James. :) If you haven't setup your XTL for USB recording and monitoring, it only takes a second in Windows Control Panel -> Sound and Audio Devices. Also, the instrument monitor level is under Windows Control Panel -> PODxt Live Console. Use that fader to control the monitored level...
