    DC-10 vs Heartbreaker vs F-100

+1, to everything Dann'sTheMan said. As far as your comment: "F100: some reliability issues, muddy unrefined distortion." I don't find either of these to be true. I've had my F-100 2x12 combo for over 3.5 years and it's been flawless through hundreds of practices and gigs. Also, there are...

What do you stick in front of your MESA

    speaker load question

The Slave out is just a padded tap off the speaker so it has all the preamp and poweramp contribution to the tone. Normally, slave outs are used for reinforcement purposes are wet/dry setups if you already like your amp's tone and just want it louder or more effected. The method I described...

    speaker load question

Check out this thread I just posted over on HC: http://acapella.harmony-central.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=1323113 IMO the best you can do is to use a load like a Hot Plate, Weber Mass, Sequis Motherload, etc. In the thread above, I used the Line-out of the Hot Plate into an XTL for...

    Mesa Customs Thread!

Here is my F-100 that I customized with Mesa Tan Jute grill cloth, Fender Vintage white knobs, and 3/16" piping: If you're curious how I did the mod, check out this tutorial: http://acapella.harmony-central.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=1182222

The Avatar 2x12 Premier Vintage would look sweet with a Rectifier: And, you can get the special Hellatone 60Ls broken-in English-made Celestion V30 speakers with extended bass response.

    Best multi-effects with a Mesa?

Ha, I actually live in Prembroke Pines, but nobody knows where that is, hence the Ft. L. reference. My band's practice space is in Davie.

What should be my next purchase for my dual Recto setup?

I would get rid of the EQ since IMO it's not really needed with the recto, and buy a nice boost pedal for solos to run out front. Lots of people like the DigiTech Bad Monkey, the Xotic AC/RC/BB pedals are nice, there are always the TS808/TS-9 or Maxon versions, Fulltone OCD, Boss SD-1, Graphic...

    Best multi-effects with a Mesa?

Close, but it's best to consider the audio, MIDI, and switching paths separately. Audio path: Guitar => Recto input => Recto FX Send (G-Major Left mono input) => G-Major Left mono out (Recto FX Return) => Recto amplifier output => Speakers. MIDI path: FCB 1010 MIDI out => G-Major MIDI in =>...

    Best multi-effects with a Mesa?

I assume you're talking to me? Well, I'll answer your questions anyway. :) 1) The G-Major has 100 Factory and 100 user presets. I get by just fine with about 8. (Some of my patches have alternate functions as listed above). The FCB has 100 presets arranged in 10 banks of 10. 2) As far as I...

    Best multi-effects with a Mesa?

timmerel, my MIDI switching via the FCB 1010 isn't complicated at all, but the programming interface on the controller is less than intuitive. Once you get used to the programming method it works perfectly well, and you can use your feet. If you're just looking to change patches with the FCB...

    Best multi-effects with a Mesa?

I really like the G-Major with my F-100 which has a parallel loop. The G-Major is as transparent as they come and the FX are really good. This is my rig:

    Mesa F-30 content

andershoeg, great work on your demo! I really love the tones you've captured with the F-30, the great songs, and sweet playing. This kind of music would do very well in the American market. I'm going to have to let my wife listen to this as I know she'll love it. I get a bit of a Beatles...

    Modding an F-50

Thanks AJH. :) For the renderings you see here I used MS PowerPoint. I would recommend Adobe Illustrator, for really heavy-duty work like this though. PP can be quite limiting and your time is better spent learning a superior program. I use Illustrator for all of my logos, CD art and the like.

    Modding an F-50

Thanks for the compliment on my work. I guess you recognized the similarities between Andy's and mine? :) I draw them from scratch as part of my graphic design business. If you need a quote for any custom graphic design work like CD art, gear renderings, band logos, etc., check out my site...

    Modding an F-50

Jeff, Andy's already given you some great ideas, but to be clear, how do you want to run your rig such that you need solo boost and a switchable FX loop? A volume pedal in the loop can serve as a solo boost as well. Since the loop is parallel, you can define the lowest volume simply by setting...

Mesa F-series FX Loop Mix Pot Master Volume

That's not stupid at all, in fact, it's a good question. With a short cable, label one side FX send and the other FX return, because they are not interchangeable. Disconnect the FX send side's tip lug from the cable's center conductor. Then, solder the center conductor to the sleeve lug...
