    C+ tranny id help wanted

BB Thanks for your reply. Hmmm...I'm learning something all the time. All along I thought the 100 & 105 trannies were the more "desireable" ones. All I can say is this 60 watter LOVES P90s and where ever I play people are amazed with the tone and power. It's got JJ tubes (seems to be the best...

    C+ tranny id help wanted

thanks for your reply I wonder why a domestic model would have an "export" symbol. i.e. there is no overseas voltage thingy in the back on mine. Maybe they just grabbed a bunch of trannies out of the box and started filling orders. No complaint, just curious.

    C+ tranny id help wanted

ELP.... Pardon my confusion. You said that early 60 watt Mark IICs had trannies with a 100 in the serial number. My transformer serial number isn't even close to that. "X62-162318 EIA 606-217" Any ideas? Thanks for your reply.

    C+ tranny id help wanted

Hmmmm.....? I figured '82 was more like it? What about the "X62".... export? even though it is a domestic amp? I'm still trying to figure out all these serial numbers. The 100 & 105 numbers refer to POWER tranny, not OTs? So far it seems like there are different trannies for the Mark IIC series...

Thanks for your reply. EXPORT? even though it has no export voltage thingys? So I guess the 100 & 105s trannies were only for 100 watt models? Just curious after reading about those trans being "more" desireable, and my tranny doesn't even say MESA. lol...it sure is one loud amp. I "RARELY" put...

    C+ tranny id help wanted

I have an early IIC that was modded to a "+", back in early 80's. It's got the MB initials and the + thingy. It is 60 watts with reverb and EQ. I've been searching LOTS of posts here and there's a lot of info about the 100 and 105 trannies. My boog has the following tranny serial number...

C+ help please (what's that sound?)

Boogiebabies - You ARE duh man! Swapped out the V1 tube with an old one and fired it up. No distortion while playing. Behaves perfectly. Many thanks!

C+ help please (what's that sound?)

Right. I always let the tubes cook for awhile (like when setting up for a gig) before I switch to power on. This is a different behavior. Thanks for your reply.

C+ help please (what's that sound?)

BB So you're suggesting replacing V-1? Flipping stand by switch off & on while POWER is on? Doesn't that stress things a bit? Thanks for your reply.

C+ help please (what's that sound?)

THANKS! What's the Triode thingy? I notice a slight reduction in power when the noise/distortion behavior occurs - then after 10 minutes all is well. Hmmmm???

C+ help please (what's that sound?)

NOT!!! It's bad to duh bone with my Hamer Special. It LOVES P-90s. Absolutely KILLS other amps. I've gone against BF Super Reverbs, Marshalls, Vox, and all agree this one boogies! Don't know what I'd do if it crapped out. ACKK! Meanwhile... what do think is going on? Caps starting to freak...

C+ help please (what's that sound?)

My C+ is making distorted noise during the first 3-5 minutes after warm up period. The sound is only when I play a note, not when at idle. After a few more minutes of playing the noise is gone and everything is beautiful for the rest of the gig. Then the next night the same behavior repeats...

    Mk2C mod to Mk2C+

My C+ is voiced with a perfect midrange boost. I don't play metal but get a more classic Bad Co./ZZtop tone. It likes humbuckers and P90s.... A LOT!!! I think that was the big selling point. It is so easy to get clean dirt with a C+. It will also do some metal big gain stuff but I prefer classic...

    MkII C+ reverb question

I replaced the tank. There was a very slight increase in reverb. I put in the resistor thingy and reverb is MUCH BETTER. Would a different value resistor increase reverb any more or is this as good as it gets? Thanks again! - twang on

    MkII C+ reverb question

The reverb on my 60 watt C+ is kinda weak. I've replaced the tube (12AX7) and checked all the connections but it is not as good as my old PV MX pig rig or other boogies/fenders etc....What's the fix? different tank, replace stock tank? I've heard that you just can't slam another tank in your amp...
