    Celestion C90

I'd venture a guess that most of us do not push our combos to the power limit much. The cleaner you set the gain, though, the higher the likelihood of a pick dynamics related accident. My master is set to 2+ regardless of the output...combo speaker or 2x12 cab, so that's a constant. The current...

Matching 2X12 cabs to my MkV...

I ran with 2 C90s in my old 2x12 vert cabs for a classic-ish gig ('80s'/'90s/'00s) and loved it. Now in a true classic job ('60s/'70s/'80s), I switched to WGS speakers (ET65+Vet30) and am very happy. Mix cut is no problem and even at Class A mode is crunches beautifully. Very flexible without...

Mark III Live clip--Wall Drug South Dakota--LOL

Sounds killer. Amazing crunch, balanced bass/treble, phenomenal note bloom...typical MkIII...I imagine. We would know for sure... IF YOU POSTED A LINK FOR US TO HEAR.

Buzzing/Rattling sound out of the Mesa cabinet

After reloading one of my vert 2x12 cabs, it started doing the same thing. I loosened all of the grill screws and reseated them. Vibration went away. The old cabs (from late '80s) did not have the cylindrical rubber offsets like the newer ones (early '90s). I have one of each and only have had...

Mark III green stripe head and 2x12 vert metal grill cab

Free bump. This is the exact rig I gig weekly...except for the speakers. Fantastic for classic rock, country and metal. Takes pedals better than most Fenders. The cab is very versatile, fits in your back seat and sounds HUGE. Not a bad thing to say about it. If I needed a spare rig I'd be on...

    Simul-Class or no??

AFAIK Simul-Class allows EL34s in the outside sockets on regardless of amp model. I've been using EL34s in my green stripe for decades flawlessly. The class A sound alone is worth it. 8)

First post...Sell my Two Rock and get a 5:50???

BWAHAHAHAHHAHAHAH!!!! Oh man, my sides hurt. Someone on the Boogie boards called another brand "overpriced boutique amp". Wow. Welcome to the boards...err, the Jungle, Gitaryzt! When does the 5:50 land on your doorstep?

NGD! NAD! Traded all of my Gibsons for 2 PRSi + a DC-3

Great score! Beautiful guitars and a sweet as hell amp. You should go post your story over at prsforums.com

Mesa vert Rectifier cab compared to Port City cab or???

I've not had those two cabs literally next to each other for a shoot out, but in the way of bass and/or punch, it's somewhat close. And mine are the old school Boogie 2x12 half-back cabs (with the back on) loaded with WGS ET65 top and Veteran 30 below. Bass is solid without flub...pushed, it's...

Little Help Finding A Boost Pedal

I use the Xotic EP Booster with great success. One up front and the other in the loop gives maximum flexibility, too.

how about the half power switch?

I have 2 of the black tolex versions of that cab. Great stuff. And that looks killer in cream. 8)

    Mark III sound clips

Here's a little different style for the average MkIII player. This is just a lick clip but shows how P-90s thru a ground-out MkIII really rocks. I push the power stage pretty hard and out thru one or two old school Boogie 2x12 half-back cabs. Classic rock stuff goes thru one with WGS...

    Mark III sound clips

Here guys, use this MkIII settings tool that a Boogie Bro setup for us long ago.

Mark III 15watt mode - Who uses it?

I have to disagree, at least with a Simul-Class green stripe. Class A mode is used 80% of the time for my indoor gigs with master at about 2...about the max output SPL (and I believe that pentode mode Simul's are at 25W). Setting the master above that is pure power stage distortion. Tasty...

Whats the deal w/ mark 3s?

My experience has been different. Specifically, the exact opposite. But that doesn't mean gts is wrong, just a different experience. We all have different approaches to tone shaping, OD/distortion levels, etc. and those baselines define our sound. These perceptions are totally subjective and...

    Mark III Died... Tube short?

+1 A visual inspection is usually enough, because when they blow, they really blow!

    Mesa Amps-----------Guitar Attenuator

Marshal PowerBrake. Built like a tank, as transparent a sound as any attenuator ever made, and trust worthy. Kinda tough to find one though. If interested, I might part with mine but they are pricey.

    Mark III ' Purple ' - possible blown R2 - UPDATED 24-04-2012

I think I have the same thing...the hand drawn 'Tri-Mode Programmable Preamplifier' schematics dated 1985. My copy shows the power stage in triode mode and the green stripe is in pentode. That doesn't apply to your purple stripe, but my point is to be cautious. FYI, I'm the original owner of...

    Mark III ' Purple ' - possible blown R2 - UPDATED 24-04-2012

I hate to say it, but I'd take it to a good tech. Short-out scenarios are very tough to track down especially since you added the extra variable to the equation...the R2 volume mod. Since you never got to thoroughly test your work after the modification, you don't know if the issue is due to the...

    George L's Cables - WTF!!!!!!!

You got the wrong connectors for the thin cable. They make two sizes, .155" and .225". Maybe you got the .255 connectors with .155 cable? Don't try making it work because you'll just end up pulling your hair out. I've used George L's for many years with perfect results. Once you get them...
