Use coarse drywall screws (1-3/4" should be fine) and if you feel more comfortable using all of the mounting holes on the speaker, do so. You can drill pilot holes, but fresh screws should self-tap pretty well. That's speaker approaches 20lbs, so make sure it's secured. EV recommends T-nuts but...

That's part of the group included in the green stripe updates. It was included at the factory, I believe, from purple forward (not sure about the exact time but were definitely in the green updates).

It depends upon which version you have and what you consider a 'mod'. The green stripes have every factory update out there and the no dot/black dots have none. The only non-production mod that is reasonably considered, IMO, is the R2 volume mod. There are others for specific tonal adjustments...

If memory serves me well, there's a GC in the area. Went there several years ago when staying at Universal. I did not find any small local shops. :(

The SPAX7 is Mesa's specially sorted, ultra low noise standard tube for V1. The brand changes as they evolve their suppliers. What did you have in there before? What kind of music are you playing? What speaker(s)/cab(s)?

Which pups, 57/08s or HFS/VBs? Having been thru both in my Cu24 I can say that you have to EQ the amp differently than most other guitars. The midrange response in PRSi is fairly unique (which I love) and you have to accommodate that character, so spend time starting from a neutral tone setting...

Hmm...not so much. Your tubes are probably WAY out of range for your fixed bias amp. If not, there are other issues preventing an acceptable bias. M/B power tubes FTW, or, time to see a tech.

Crank it and don't look back. If you get curious about a little EL34 action (in class A mode it can get very Plexi-ish), just swap out the outer pair. Either way, good stuff. 8)

I fall into this group. EP Booster / Keeley TS-9 / Lovepedal Kalamazoo / OCD / DS-1 / germanium and silicon fuzzes all work well with CH1 and CH2 but not Ch3, IMO. But ch3 doesn't need any help in that department anyway. ;) Metal is not my genre but with an EQ shift and a goose-up on the gain...

Some pedals simply don't meld with a particular amp. If the buffer is such that it overloads your amp, it will cause this. I found that Tube Screamer variants work really well with my MkIII but others like the Satchurator don't (in ch3).

You say you have "a switch" hooked up, but is it the stock switch? If not, you might disassemble it and check the circuit. Otherwise you may need to open the chassis and check the pull pot switch leads for problems. New-to-you amps can sometimes hide a dark past of Frankenstein-like experiments...

Thanks for posting the info. It is a really simple mod, but I opted to get my Keeley modded TS-9 Tru-Bypass'ed from the beginning. There's virtually no pop. Best TubeScreamer I've ever worked with.

The EP Booster is one of those secret weapon pedals, for me. Though I always keep one in the front of my chain with the treble boost on, I've also had one at the end of the chain without the treble boost for a volume boost/leads. I totally love it. Highly recommended.

I've not tried either of the new Bogner pedals with a MkIII. But dependent upon what Plexi-like tone you're pursuing, I believe that I get a very Plexi-ish vibe/sound out of mine in Class A mode with EL34s and master pushed to 8. It's not a typical setup for the average MkIII but it served me...

What's the worst that can happen? You hate it and turn around and resell it for what you have in it. No biggie. The MkIII green stripe is the closest, design-wise, to the IV, but it is NOT a IV. Depending upon your musical tastes (wild vs. refined) one may be more fitting than the other.
