    How different sounding is a dc-10 than a dc-3?

Anyone?? Its down to $650 now and I may be able to get it for less.

    DC-2 problem

I'm glad that I could help Something to try after you have played with it for a bit. There's a 22k resistor after the treble pot on the lead channel. You can either snip it or, as I did, desolder one end and lift it. This will make it sound like you have removed a blanket from the speaker. I...

    DC-3 into VTM 60.

This started with me thinking I needed something a bit more heavy, metal, angry whatever you want to call it. I went out and bought a 5150 combo thinking it would nail it. Well it turns out I'm not a big fan. Sure it sounds good in many ways, (I much prefer it through my Mesa 212 with V30's over...

    How different sounding is a dc-10 than a dc-3?

I have a dc-3, which I love, but I am interested in how the dc-10 sounds. Can it get into the dark, metal, rectifierish realm? There is a head for sale locally for $700 and I am really tempted. That is unless I end up spending all of my money on a guitar or two in the mean time. Its a sickness...

    DC-2 problem

Could be the 5532. If you pull it out and everything but the recording circuit works, that was the problem. My dc-3 was sick and it ended being the op amp that was shorting out. Also try running another amp into the fx return from its fx send, then the dc-2 send to its return to see if you can...

    DC-5a help please

It took about 30 seconds to replace it. You just have to pull the old one out of the holder and put the new one in. No soldering at all. The amp is working fine now. I only play at home so I haven't had it super loud, but so far so good.

    DC-3 Preamp Issues

It was a tl072, just got the new one last week and everything works now. Gotta love a 20¢ fix. The next thing to do is decide whether or not to keep the dc-2 and the dc-3. I kind of feel like collecting them all now.

    DC-5a help please

My new op amp arrived today. I popped it in and it works! I haven't checked voltages yet, but there's sound now when there wasn't before, so I'm happy. :D

    DC-5a help please

I am waiting for the new op amp to arrive so I can see if it was the sole problem. I had to order them from China as my somewhat local supply store only carries tl082 not the 72. I tried the ne5532 from my dc-2 and although I seemed to get the correct voltages, I didn't get any output. I will...

    DC-3 Preamp Issues

I figured out that it was the op amp in the recording circuit. I've ordered a new one, so we'll see if that was the only problem. Thanks!

    DC-5a help please

I pulled out the optocoupler in the recording out circuit out and my amp now works. I'm not sure if it was the problem or something else beyond it in the circuit, but I'll figure it out soon.

    DC-5a help please

I am having a similar problem with my dc-3. Does it have very low output, like you can crank the main output knob and it's still quiet? Something to try first off is jumper the fx loop. Just plug a one end of a cord into send and the other into the return. I've read lots about corroded...

DC- 5 No reverb, tried everything, what am I missing ?

I had an issue with my dc-2 reverb. I solderd a lead from the ground of the output lead to the ground of the input lead and problem solved. Apparently grounding issues are common. I first tried a regular set of rca cables and it worked with them, so I would suggest trying that before pulling out...

    DC-3 Preamp Issues

So after checking out the voltages again, I have found that pin one of v4, the reverb tube, is 30 volts over what it should be. Pin 6 is about 10 volts under. Also, using the "click" test, I don't get anything when I touch pin 6. Very frustrating.

Thank you for your suggestion dodger, but as I mentioned in the original post the output section is working fine.

    DC-3 Preamp Issues

Hello all, I am a new Mesa owner. I have had a DC-2 for about a month and just acquired a sick DC-3. I can hear the guitar so the signal is getting through, it's just very weak. Lead and rhythm channels are both affected. I have narrowed it down to a preamp issue by running another amp into the...
