FS: Brand new Mesa Boogie Roadster

what kind of cab do you have? I have a Bogner Ecstacy, mint condition. Looking for a roadster or road king instead. These are $4,000 heads so I need to keep the trade fair but if you'd consider trading me my Bogner head for your Roadster head and cab (assuming you have something decent) - and...

Interested in trading my Bogner XTC for a Boogie

I have a 2007 mint Bogner XTC Classic head. I love it love it love it but still find myself missing the Road King I sold to acquire it. This head cost me $3,995 so what I'd be looking to trade is my head for a Road King (series II) or Roadster head, 2007 or newer along with a 2x12 boogie cab or...

dual rectifier vs. marshall jvm410 h

metalhead - i agree with you on the v30's. I love that big boogie recto sound produced by the boogie cabs but felt in the high gain department it was not as versitile as it could be. I started using Port City Amps 2x12 wave cabs with v30's and it left me with plenty of recto meat but still let...

    Roadster heads, any comments?

good point jdurso... to take that one step further... If you like the recto stuff but want to be able to kick in that sweet marshall tone from time to time consider the road king instead. Being able to dial in the el34s can get **** close to the marshall tone. I was a marshall guy through and...

    Road King II Sound

I had this happen to me once at practice when we were practicing at one of the band members houses that we never practiced at. I just could not get any juice and initially thought I had tubes going bad. I brought it home and plugged it in and it was fine. We've never practiced at that spot again...

Best 2x12 or 1x12 cabinet for Roadster

I actually use 1 (or sometimes 2) Port City Amps 2x12 wave cabinets. They are awesome. They are much lighter to carry around than the boogie cabs and move tons of air. If you look at the port city website check out the client rigs page... The rig with the road king head and 2 2x12 cabs is mine. :)

dual rectifier vs. marshall jvm410 h

Before getting my road king I had a jvm half stack and a jvm 2x12 combo. Those amps are absolutely killer and are capable of a very wide range of tone. The biggest reasons why I sold those and went boogie was 1. the jvm OD2 channel on red (ie: the anywhere near recto gain chanel) hissed like a...

    Roadster heads, any comments?

What are new roadster heads currently going for at places like GC? Can I really save much $$$ holding out for a used one to show up on here or ebay? Is it true that places like GC are not allowed to negotiate on prices with boogie amps?

What's happening to my Road King?

just an update. I gigged with my road king last night and had no trouble at all. It rocked da house. :)

What's happening to my Road King?

I think Mojo was right about the power feed. Where we were practicing last night was way out in the country and I'm guessing the power was not great. I have played it all day today - changing stuff, turning it on and off a lot, leaving it on for a while, different volume levels, etc. and have...

What's happening to my Road King?

Tonight at rehearsal all of a sudden my channel 3 and 4 volume levels went WAY low. I had to turn them on like 8 and 9 while channel 1 and 2 were on 3 or 4. I have been playing fine until then with my levels are set within reasonable ranges of each other. All 4 channels are running the same tube...

Any suggestions for a great wah pedal for the Express 5:50

I use a Buddah wah - switched to it from a cry baby and really like it. It has a nice sweep to it.

    JCM800

I know this is a boogie board - but why not just go for a jcm 800? They are some of the best marshalls ever made and some of the older ones will probably increase in value some.

What is the sound you can absolutely nail with your Mesa???

I have a line 6 vetta II as well and caught hell for months from other players about being too focused on other people's tones - but honestly I really enjoy nailing other's tones. I also play in a cover band and unfortuantely 99% of our audience appreciates my sounding like the songs we're...

    Roadking owners, any ideas?

    1. I'm not too familiar with those bands, but yes with channel 3 and 4 I can get some pretty nasty high gain tones. Channel 4 for me is more like the Evanescence tone which is still pretty growly. 2. I love the channel 1 clean for really clean, thin stuff, but like the other poster, I dig...

What is the sound you can absolutely nail with your Mesa???

Heheh - you notice most of the people with "signature tones" strated carving their tones in the 60s and 70s? These days it seems its all been done unless you want to go so funky that its hard to listen to. Andy Timmons may be one exception to that. His modern day is semi-unique and just...
