Excellent choice ... enjoy. The PRS SE guitars are fantastic inexpensive guitars.

Eric Johnson Strat vs. Eric Clapton Strat

Peter: You live in a big city. Your local GC will have both of them in stock. I don't think the quality or the tone from each will be your deciding factor ... the feel in your hand will be. The EJ has a pretty large V neck with MJ frets and the EC has a smaller V neck with vintage frets ...

    Express 5:25 or 5:50

The 5:50 uses 6L6 tubes which gives it a Fender type clean sound, whereas the 5:25 uses EL84 tubes which will give you a more British or Marshall sound. Either would be ideal for home use. I use mine about 80% of the time at 5 watts. Just try them both and pick the one you like.

    5:50 express 2x12 vs 1x12

I bought a 5:50 2X12 a couple weeks ago. I'm a little unique since I don't play out anymore, so it doesn't have to leave my basement. I was coming from a Twin, so I like the openess of a 2X12. Since the 2X12 comes with casters and it was only $100, it was an easy decision. I played both...

    Dammit!! (Roland Space Echo)

Maybe you would like to know that Roland is coming out with a new pedal called the Boss RE-20 Space Echo. It is already available overseas, and should be here soon. http://www.roland.com/products/en/RE-20/index.html

Express 5:50 best sounding Boogie I ever played

The 5:50 2X12 weighs about the same as a Twin, so its heavy ... about 65 pounds. It does come with casters. I think the 5:50 1X12 is about 50 pounds, so it isn't that much more. My logic was that it only cost $100 for the 2X12 and the casters make the 2X12 manageable.

Express 5:50 best sounding Boogie I ever played

This is what keeps amazing me ... at 5 watts I can get all that great clean tone that was in the Twin, but I could rarely hear unless I played loud. Not to mention the other modes that weren't even in the Twin. I also can't believe how much this amp loves single coils. It just sings with my...

Express 5:50 best sounding Boogie I ever played

I wish you wouldn't beat around the bush ... just tell us how you really feel about the 5:50. I bought a 5:50 2X12 a couple weeks ago to replace a Twin and over any other clean/crunch amp I tried ... of which there were a lot. At this power level, there was no amp that compared with my ears...

Tried an Express 5:50 and 5:25... disappointed

I don't think you have said anything that has not already been said in the magazine reviews and by several on this forum ... The Express Series does not produce the typical Mesa High gain sound and is not ideal for heavy metal or very high distortion. Since I mostly use the clean mode, with...

    Express 5:50 2X12 ... after 5 days

I was going to measure and weigh it for you when I got home tonight. I assumed it (2X12) weighed the same or a little more than the Twin ... but the casters help a lot. Fortunately mine won't leave my basement ... unless I move, die, or it breaks ... none of which I'm planning on. (knock on wood)

TC Electronics Nova delay and reverb pedals

Anyone familiar with these pedals. They cost about $250 each and I wondered how good they are. http://www.tcelectronic.com/Nova.asp

    Express 5:50 2X12 ... after 5 days

I have been looking for an amp to replace my Twin. I only play at home, mostly clean, but needed a lower powered amp that could still give me the Twin sound. On paper and in reviews, the 5:50 seemed like it was what I was looking for. But no matter how is sounds in the store, you never know...

What made you decide to buy a mesa boogie?

I was looking for the Fender Twin clean sound at much less power. The Express 5:50 2X12 is perfect ... even at 5 watts. The fact that I can get the other sounds without pedals or a processor is also great.

    Delay pedals on an Express

    I use a Boss ME-50 ... gives me a lot more options.

    Price Increase on July 1????

RR: Most guitar companies would love to have you buy your first guitar from them and then move up to their better guitars as you can afford to. To compete in the $500 market with a competitive product, it needs to be made out of the USA. Therefore you have the EPI, MIM Strat, and the PRS SE...

    Bought an Express 5:50 2X12 today ...

After looking for something to replace my Twin for several months, I traded the Twin in on an Express 5:50 2X12 today. I only play at home and have wanted a lower powered amp for a while. When the 5:50 was first announced, it sounded like exactly what I was looking for. I finally got a chance...

Good solid state 100 watt power amplifiers?

Since Crate has been mentioned ... I like their VTX200S combo. It is sterio, 2X12, built in effects, 200 watts @ 4ohms, and sounds pretty good for a SS amp at about $500. The RFX200s, I believe, is the same model with slightly difference colors. It's kind of like a Jazz Chorus for half the...

    PRS on order

What, exactly did you order? It's a Custom 22 Artist ... WF or WT neck? What color? You can not order quilt any more. There are a lot of the Custom 22 Artist guitars out there. I'm surprised you couldn't find one you liked. Here is mine, which is a 2005 Custom 22 Artist 20th Anniversary...

    Fender Super Sonic

I treid out a Super-Sonic when they first came out and was under whelmed by it. Last night I was Judging the King of the Blues thing at GC and after it was all done there was a Super-Sonic on stage and an LP, so I gave it about a half hour tryout. It sounded like a different amp than the one I...

Comparisson of the Stiletto Ace to the Express 5:50

I got a chance to try a 5:50 1X12 this last weekend and I have to concur with richt. I've been using Fender amps for 46 years and will probably buy a 5:50 ... shortly.
