I have a Mark V combo with the widebody Thiele cabinet. At low volumes it doesn't really sound much like a Thiele, but as the volume goes up the bass becomes more apparent. It's a great combination.

I agree with the comments about the Compact Widebody 1X12 ported cabinet .... :)

Just picked up the Mesa Compact 1X12 ported widebody cabinet I ordered to go with my Mark V combo.

Give it some time to break in a bit, as said above. The Mark V is not as bass heavy as some other Boogies, and it has an open back. It is much tighter and I have not felt the need to dial back the bass as on some other models ... but that's just my preference. :wink: Put an Express 23"...

I'm close to buying a Mark V, just finished scanning through a dozen pages here, and am surprised by the number of problems people are having with the amp. My dealer is two hours away. I view amp warrantys like car warrantys ... They are great to have, but I don't want to need to use it...

How many watts would the ED put out with EL34s?

Just for headroom, I would go for the 5:50 over the 5:25. Definately get the 12" speaker. ED would be my first choice of a Boogie. There are many other great clean amps though ...

I had an Express 5:50 2X12 and had the same problem. The bottom end can be very overpowering and muddy. The quickest cure is to run the bass knob at about 9 o'clock. That will help a lot. The LSC had the same issue. I play mostly clean and wanted a very tight muted bass sound, and it is...

When you demo the 5:50, leave the bass at about 9 o'clock ... that's all you'll need.

Over the last year I have had both an Express 5:50 2X12 and an LSC & 2X12 cab. Now I use a Rivera Clubster 25 Doce ... a great bang for the buck 6V6 amp.
