Mesa Boogie Triple Rec, Metal and Heavy Metal tones

All beeing said about cranking the mids and the useful explanation about how tone controls on rectos work, is very important and crucial to getting a good and usable metal sound out of it. Scooped mids might sound cool when you are practising alone but in a band setting your guitar will drown...

Is a Mark IV what I really need??

platypus: Thanks for the tip about the effects loop, I will try to swap the tube  I have tried a lot of different settings but the result is always the same so I think the tube is a better guess. I´m also very modest with the gain. Random hero: I guess you´re right, if I buy the Mark IV...

Is a Mark IV what I really need??

The quality of the effects loop will also affect my decision. I find it to noisy on my triple recto. Don´t know why but I´ve got some hum when I kick it in. Maybe the Mark IV does that better?

Is a Mark IV what I really need??

I have played my 2 ch triple rectifier for 6 months now and as stated in earlier posts I love the modern channel for rhythm in my band and it "feels right" for the first time after trying several amps. My problem is that this setting is the only thing I like about this amp. Of course the rest is...

Shipping outside US, whats the deal?

I´m constantly checking Ebay in hope of finding a Mark IV or Lonestar combo at an affordable price. But I notice that most people will not ship outside US and thats a shame since I live in Europe  I see sellers referring to the "customs-problem" etc when explaining why they don´t ship...

    Buy amp, advice needed

Thanks for the advice. I live in Oslo so it´s only a couple of hours by bus. Bought my previous ENGL in Stockholm. I don´t know if theres a big difference in price. Have played a couple of times in sweden and checked out som studio gear and guitars but the prices were the same. A LSS 2 x 12 in...

    Buy amp, advice needed

Thanks for the advice guys, I´ll try some of the amps mentioned above. Although it will most likely not be a Mesa because I´ve spent to much money on guitar right now. But maybe something cheap comes along:wink: I know I should save some money and go for the best but I want an amp right now :D...

    Buy amp, advice needed

Been thinking about the Peavey 30 as well, just generally sceptical about Peavey. Skol! to you as well, althought it´s "Skål!"

    Buy amp, advice needed

I know that I could manange with something much smaller and cheaper than the LS. I have considered the Peavey Classic 30 as well. It just that I love Mesa´s so much that I cant stop dreaming of having the a lot of different ones. Besides the LSS looks good :D I will look into the Express.

    Buy amp, advice needed

So I have the triple recto and I love it for the gain monster it is. Together with my LP it moves air :D But... I love to play guitar all the time, not just with my industrial metal band so I need a smaller amp to fit my small 1 room apartment. When I´m playing alone I kind of mess around and...

    Mesa Boogie 50/50

I have the possibility of buying an old 50/50 for 400 usd. Is that a good price if the amp is in ok condition? I live in Scandinavia and prices here are usually one third more than in the states. Just got the offer and don´t know much about it except beeing Mesa  I had an old Strategy...

Small noise using "bold" setting on Triple

Thanks a lot! I guess you can say I got my question answered  I´ll try to locate the bad tube now.

Small noise using "bold" setting on Triple

I have a small noise problem with my 2 channel Triple Recto, bought recently. When I use the "bold" setting a very low noise appears. The amp seems a little bit more noisy in general on this setting but this sound does not seem right/healthy to me. I could best describe it as the "scraping"...

    Triple Recto lead-tones

Thanks! I almost have my sound then! Only thing I regret is selling my old TS from 89. Didn´t know better at that time

Help me decide today on a Mesa 4x12 for a Roadster

I would try both if I were you and not buy because "bigger is better". I A/B tested these cabinets on my triple recto and liked the smaller one much better. If I didnt try them I would have bought the biggest only because it was the biggest

    Triple Recto lead-tones

It would be fun to try something else in my LP Custom someday but to my taste the pickups are hot enough, actually hotter than any other guitar I´ve tried and I love the sound to much. I owned an ESP with EMG 81 (and yes for me they are a bit too sterile) until a couple of months ago, but I also...

    Triple Recto lead-tones

Tried with an old tubescreamer yesterday and it sounded great! Thanks for the advise! I Put it in front of the amp and used the orange channel in vintage mode. Can the amp or pre-amp fuses get damaged if I run the TS on full volume before the amp. Ended up with these settings on the TS...

    Triple Recto lead-tones

I know I have a 12ax7 lying around at our rehearsal space but dont know if it´s balanced (btw does that mean balanced for Mesa?), dont know too much about tubes in general but the ones in the amp are brand new, only played 10-12 hours on them. I have borrowed myself a Klon Kentaur? and a Tube...

Hey Roadster owners --> get in here <--

I got the chance to A/B the oversized recto cab with my traditional recto cab , which I believe to be the one called the Stiletto now, on my triple recto. I must say I am very glad I went for the smaller one because the low end is tighter and more punchy if you ask me. Too much "woof" in the big...

    Triple Recto lead-tones

Should be nothing wrong with my guitars. LP Custom and SG Standard. Set-up just fine. Not about to change that as I get proper leads out of mostly anything, even straight into my laptop with crappy plugins  I listed some references above to the sound I am after. If you truly believe I...
