    Speaker suggestions in general

I run a vintage 30 in my mkiii blue stripe and I love the tone. Maybe a little looser in the low end compared to the EV, but the highs are tamed a bit and it's gotta be a good 10-15 pounds lighter than stock. Just a standard heavy combo now, not a boat anchor, haha V30 doesn't quite do metal so...

Mesa mark III toggle switch replacement parts... halp!

Send an email to mesa support. They're quick to respond and know exactly what you need. And they keep a ton of stuff in stock with cheap prices, so if they have it they'll just set you up with a sales order.

More crunch out of R1 in a Mark iii blue stripe?

I think I have all JJ's in there right now, fairly recent within the last 6 months I believe. Previous owner had done a recent retube. Where would you put that RFT tube? V1? When I get a little spare cash I will be grabbing up some NOS to play around with this thing. That said.. The compressor...

More crunch out of R1 in a Mark iii blue stripe?

@ Snottyboy I LOVE my early 90s rat 2 but not for colorless clean. Mine really doesn't really clean up enough anyway. At super low gain it just doesn't sound right. I will say it is cleaner than the tubescreamer, but neither of these pedals will serve the purpose I need. Now, that Timmy is...

More crunch out of R1 in a Mark iii blue stripe?

Sorry, been away from the computer for the weekend ;) I agree that R2 sounds weak next to R1 and L, hence why I want R1 to handle it for me. Like I said, I can get R2 "close" but it just isn't quite there, and then R1 is just way too clean and L isn't quite right. I do channel switch but it's...

More crunch out of R1 in a Mark iii blue stripe?

I guess I mean R2 is just darker on mine compared to R1 and Lead. Off the top of my head for settings I have my mids around 7-8, bass around 2, deep pulled. I can get R2 in the vicinity of R1 if I pull bright AND crank the treble. But it still doesn't have the fender-ish chime that R1 has. And...

More crunch out of R1 in a Mark iii blue stripe?

Hey all, I'm just wondering what I can do to get a little more overdrive out of R1 on my blue stripe. I really prefer the sparkle of R1 over the darkness of R2, but I would love just a tad more gain. I am currently running volume 1 completely dimed. The guitar is a US strat with a Texas special...

    Mk3 Master Volume fix?

I love learning this stuff. Thanks!! What you say makes sense, and I appreciate the input. So you are describing how you rewired for a voltage divider, NOT the stock wiring, correct? And you removed the 22k resistor, correct? FWIW, the response on this from Mesa was to find a linear 250k pot...

    Mk3 Master Volume fix?

Okay, studying up on a voltage divider circuit. Seems I was a little off. It's more like signal in AND out connect to the wiper, and then one side of the wiper goes to ground. Then as resistance builds between wiper and ground, less signal goes to ground and more goes to power section...

    Mk3 Master Volume fix?

@MrMarkIII It's certainly not too much amp, but there needs to be a happy medium between quiet and full-bore. Otherwise what's the point of a master at all? I feel like mine is basically at full volume at 3 on the dial and increasing from there does little to nothing. It would be great to truly...

    Mk3 Master Volume fix?

Hey All, First off - Hello! This is my first post and it's about my first Mesa, a Mk3 Blue Stripe 1x12 Simul-Class. I absolutely love the tone and can't believe it took me this long to get a Mesa. My issue is the Master Volume pot. As many people report, it goes from too quiet to WAY too loud...
