    1978 MKII...pull two tubes question

THanks for the info, Joey. A friend has a problem with one tube gone bad, and he wants to play the amp while waiting for new tubes.

    1978 MKII...pull two tubes question

Can one pull two tubes and run a MKII the amp on the in cab speaker out of the 8 ohm jack? Thanks in acvance.

MKII...remove two tubes and impedance question...

Hello, everyone. Quick question on a MKII....if one was to remove two tubes..one from each side....would one want to run the in-cab speaker on one of the 4 ohm outputs so as to maintain an impedance match?

MKII with bias adjsutment pot from the factory???

Thanks, TR. I knew that it had to be factory...it is just that I had always read/heard that Boogie amps did not have adjustable bias. Exceptions to every rule???

Mark IIC+ ... i holy grail.. then why

Thanks for the clarification, Tuna. I knew it had to be that way. WAve soldering.....if there is a problem in the process, wave soldering can lead to problems. I know of a situation where a well-known and well-respected tech had been puzzling over a problem with a FEnder CS VibroKing, which I am...

Mark IIC+ ... i holy grail.. then why

Tuna, just making sure here. You are saying that the green PCB is the older one? I would have thought just the opposite. The lower pic shows a board that is similar to the one in the '79 MKII that I mentioned. I would have thought that this board would have been hand-soldered. IT was ordered...

MKII with bias adjsutment pot from the factory???

Dodger916, thanks for the reply. The thing about this amp is that it has never been back to the factory, and I do believe I am the only person to have opened the amp up. I know the original owner. IT was only retubed while he had it. When he sold it to a friend of mine, we recapped it. Great...

Those are pictures of two well-done PCB amp circuits.

MKII with bias adjsutment pot from the factory???

How many of you have seen this? I jsut had #3104 open and there is a small, blue adjustment for the bias over on the board where the bias caps are. IT looks factory....about 5/16" in diameter and has a high ratio of turns to change in voltage. Just wondering.....

Mark IIC+ ... i holy grail.. then why

MKII's are on PCB's....therefore all MKIIC are on PCB's. I haven't had the opportunity to open up a MKI to know whether or not they are PCB amps, but I am going to guess that they are. Teh latest Boogie I have opened up was a 1979 MKII. IT has the same type of thick board with big traces PCB...

Longterm business relationships work that way.

    Tube socket holes messed up???

Adambomb, if your tech charges everyone that way, he will not be in business for long...or maybe it is a sideline for him???? That is not a fair charge....good deal for you, though.

    Screen resistor on a DR

I would think that you would want a tech to replace the screen resistor/s that are burnt and to look that amp over. The screen resistors should be in good working condition. These resistors have more than one funciton in the amp and need to be there in good working order. I would advise not...

    Tube socket holes messed up???

NOrmal warning...dangerous voltages are present. Using a conductive screwdriver to staighten out thos pin clamps can be dangerous. At least two of those pins..1&6....have amybe 200 volts on them. That metal screwdriver can take that voltage to ground quickly. Adam, I agree with fish that the...

    Buster Bass 200 biasing question...

George at Mesa confirmed that I need to divide by 3 in this situation. HE also shared that I would be surprised by how 'cool' the draw would be. I am, and these tubes should last a long while at this setting. They are at 30% of plate dissipation and sound great for the player....good...

Bias voltage for 6L6's in Road King II???

My apologies...misread and misthought. I will say this...the bias voltage is the voltage that determines current draw. Current draw is the thing that interests me the most. The same bias voltage with a different tube in a certain circuit can yield different current draw. This is why Mesa grades...

    Buster Bass 200 biasing question...

I posted this over in the 'Modern Amps' forum...maybe this is the appropriate place for this question. When using the transformer shunt method of reading current draw, should I divide the reading by 3 to account for the 3 pwoer tubes per side on the primary of the OT? This seems logical since...

Building up my DC 5 Combo

Wolf, by the time you put in the bigger trannies and other extras, that DC5/10 would weigh in about the same as a stock DC10. The trannies are the big weight items not the speakers. The old adagae holds true...when you are buying an amp, buy weight because the value is in the transformers; and...

    IIC+ value?

At a benefit where many guitarists were playing through the same MKIIC+ and getting similarly bad tone, I noted that one player achieved tone that was totally different and much more musical. I asked him what gives..he had recently purchased his own MKIIC+...from me (I had not 'gone to school'...
