another brilliant, affordable new tube amp

Sweet! I am really digging lower wattage high gain amps. I run my Mark III in Class A most of the time and I just picked up a Jet City 20 watt head too.

    Jet City 20 watt head

So I picked up this little gem a few nights ago from CL. It's a Jet City 20 watt head, the dual channel one. It was originally a combo, but the previous owner converted it to head only. I have traded with him before and he does nice, clean work so I knew it was a safe deal. It's less than a...

Mesa boogie mark III + Marshall 1960a cab anyone?

A 4x12 cabinet will make it sound huge. I have a Carvin 4x12 with Vintage 30s in it and my Mark III sounds incredible through it. You will not regret getting a closed back cab.

Mark III blue stripe -Just a bullet away

I have a few more clips that I will upload soon, just have to find some time. They are just a few riffs I came up with over the years, nothing special.

Mark III blue stripe -Just a bullet away

Sounds great! Love hearing the Mark III.

Mark III blue stripe - Damage inc Metallica

    Another great clip!

    Mark III/Mark V/Mark V:25

Wow, that's an incredible price! As stated, you could easily make a nice profit on that if you don't like it, assuming it's in good condition. There is one on my local CL and they are asking $1000, though it is in like new condition. Even that is a decent price and I would snatch it up if I...

    Mark III/Mark V/Mark V:25

That makes sense. Outside of a used Dual Rec or 2, I haven't seen any new Mesa stuff at either place in a while.

    Mark III/Mark V/Mark V:25

Thanks for sharing. I love my Mark III too and don't have any plans to ever get rid of it. I would love to check out a Mark V 25 as well, but there aren't any around here. I don't even think the 2 GC's near me have them in.

Mark III Blue Stripe - Puppets tone attempt

Messing around with my Mark III attempting a Puppets-ish tone. I know it will never sound like a Mark IIC+, but I am more than happy with this amp! https://youtu.be/unubP1pJKFw

Mark III blue stripe thrash riff

Sounds great! Lots of bite but you still get nice definition. I have the 5-band on my blue stripe set up the exact same way, most of the other knobs too, and I love the sound. If I throw my Boss GE7 in the loop and drop a few of the middle sliders on it, it will nail Puppets / Justice tones...

Mark III - Smoke from power switch

My switch got here today, along with my soldering kit and some other odds and ends. My brother couldn't stop by until next week and I just couldn't wait that long so I ordered up a kit from Amazon Prime. Pulled up some youtube videos on soldering / de-soldering and figured what the heck... I...

Mark III - Smoke from power switch

Thanks for the tips. I went ahead and ordered the switch from Amazon, should hopefully arrive in a few days. I checked the wires and the insulation seems to be OK and still pliable. While I am comfortable assembling / disassembling things, my soldering skills leave a lot to be desired. I...

Mesa Mark III Red Stripe (Metallica tone)!

Wow, definitely captures that Justice tone. Nicely done!

Mark III - Smoke from power switch

So I forgot to turn off the power switch on my Mark III last night. Realized it was still on this morning when I went downstairs to the "office/music room" to start working so I switched it off. What I didn't realize is that even though the switch was down, it was still on. After a few...

    Help me Choosing my IIC

I would go for the fully loaded one and have the + conversion done.

Help!! Mark III with Low Volume When Using FX Loop

Mine was doing the same thing. I read on here that it could be dirty send/return connections (among other things) so I used some contact cleaner on them. They seem to be working OK now using my Boss delay and chorus pedals.

Petrucci tone with a cheaper Mesa Boogie

Great advice. There is currently a Mark IV on the PGH Craigslist for $925 in excellent condition.

Petrucci tone with a cheaper Mesa Boogie

Another vote for the Mark III. I paid $850 for my blue stripe combo which is in excellent condition. It gets pretty darn close to the sound you are looking for.
