Why does the Mark III get less respect than the IV or V?

I just bought, and sold, a Rivera KR7 that had unlimited tweakability, to the point that it was too much, hence selling it. Tweak tweak tweak, and never happy with the tones, even though they were all useable. drove me nuts, so it had to go.

    Vid of my Mark V

A Mesa is not a Marshall. If you dime the gain on a Mesa, you will sound bad. 1-3 o'clock at the very most on any mesa amp I have ever played. they may go there, but they aren't supposed to stay there.

Why does the Mark III get less respect than the IV or V?

Just wondering, when people always have good things to say about the Mark III, why it always seems to be the one Mark amp that is now forgotten? Everyone always says they are brutal amps, but it seems like they get skipped over. Just look at the V, it has Mark I, IIc+, and IV modes. nothing...

The Mesa amps I currently own are...

Dual Rectifer (#112). Best Tone machine I have. Not muddy, just pure tone. Triaxis, I have recently discovered to be a Phat mod unit, with Recto board. 2:90, currently loaded with EL34's and 6L6's. 1st version. Just recently sold my Stiletto Deuce II for a flurry of failed experiments...

For Heavy stuff...Mark IV, or Mark V?

Alrighty, so it's been out for awhile now, and folks have had time to experiment, so I thought I would ask... If I'm going for some heavy tones, exclusively, would the better option be a Mark IV, or a Mark V? I know the Mark V is basically a mixture of the Mark I, IIC+ and IV, and the IV is...

Thinking of Trading my Triaxis w/Fat mod for non-Fat

Just a feeler... I have a Triaxis, V2, #T6639, I called Mesa today and they verified the Recto TX4 board Fat mod started with #5200. I always thought it was a non-fat, as i read in some thread they started later. So I got to thinking, I wanted to see if anyone with a Non-Fat modded Triaxis...

Good or bad move...Trading a Stiletto Deuce II for Powerball

Well, since I already have a Triaxis and 2:90, I should know what the Mark V will sound like, although I imagine it probably is a little better. The Triaxis has not blown me away. It is one of those...I really want to like it, and when I do play out of it, it is an amazing experience, but I am...

Good or bad move...Trading a Stiletto Deuce II for Powerball

so here's an update. a few weeks ago I got the Rivera KR7 in. That amp has an amazing array of tones in it. however, and I imagine it might be just me here, and the same way with some folks on the Marks, but there is almost too much dialing and tweaking to do with the amp, and I just simply...

$3000 Dual Recto Rev. C? Right here.

I paid about $1400 or $1450 for my #112. I thought it was a lot, after selling my 3 ch. Triple for $1300, and my 2 ch. dual for something like 1100 or 1200. However, it is the BEST Toneful, aggressive amp I currently own. And I own a lot. It is my benchmark for amps...(the Stiletto Deuce II...

Good or bad move...Trading a Stiletto Deuce II for Powerball

update... So the Powerball sold on Ebay and I took that money and found someone on CL selling a Rivera KR7 for $2k. I'm going to give that amp a shot next. I'm hopeful that I like this amp better...I tried it locally and liked it more than the regular Knucklehead K-tre, (much tighter in the...

Good or bad move...Trading a Stiletto Deuce II for Powerball

Well... here's an update. I feel I made a huge mistake. So this kid comes over, and brings his Powerball over, and I play with it for a while, and finally decide to just go for it. I give him the Stiletto and keep the Powerball. I took it to the studio yesterday and it was very warm and...

Good or bad move...Trading a Stiletto Deuce II for Powerball

I've done thus before, runnning the stiletto and recto simultaniosly for recordings, and yes it makes everything much bigger. Problem I have is the Mesa tone between both amps was the same, yet the recto overpowered the low end sloppiness, and the tightness on the stiletto disappeared. I tried...

Good or bad move...Trading a Stiletto Deuce II for Powerball

What kind of a sound are you still trying to achieve that you can't get? Eric What kind of a sound are you still trying to achieve that you can't get? Eric that's a hard question, but basically I am looking for more balls and Punch. The stiletto to me is one of the best rock Toneful...

Good or bad move...Trading a Stiletto Deuce II for Powerball

why do you say that? They both sell for $1999.99 here in the USA. I figure the stiletto might sell for $1300 or less if I sold it on Ebay, and probably the same for the Powerball. I think costwise they are priced (at least here) pretty similar

Good or bad move...Trading a Stiletto Deuce II for Powerball

Howdy. I got a message from someone today wondering if i would be interested in trading my Deuce II for a Powerball. I rarely use my Deuce anymore, maybe due to the brightness and piercing high end it sometimes gives off. I was thinking maybe to get a Rivera Knucklhead, but went to the store...

Anyone every compare a Mesa amp to a Rivera K-Tre?

I've got too many amps, and have been thinking of getting a combo to make gigs easier, and have been toying with possibly selling one of my Mesa amps off, or more...Maybe the Triaxis, or Stiletto... and have been considering what to get...and have started thinking about getting a Rivera...

    Stiletto Deuce II vs. JCM800KK

Just wondering, who do you think would win in the battle of Stiletto Deuce II vs. the Marshall JCM800KK, Kerry King head? I recently played one and to me, it sounded very similar to my Stiletto, but had the built in noise gate to quiet the hiss on the higher gain settings. After playing a JVM...

    The Deuce II recap

I have to disagree with one statement. I have always used an MXR EQ in my Dual Rectifiers effects loop. i tried it in the Stiletto in the past and didn't feel it made much of a difference. Especially as much as a recto. BUT... i tried it again this week in the stilleto and ya know what...it...
