The best thing to do is to try different ones at your local store and choose what suites best for you. I did the test with 3, the TS-9, the Maxon OD808 and the real TS808 and this last one made it for me. But as I said the 3 were very good but very different on their tone and feel and grain etc...

In fact, I didn't change anything! and I have a marker on the amp for the place I put the effect loop volume so I'm 100% sure it's on the same place.

Ok here is my setup, a TC G major in the effect loop of my Mesa Rectoverb 50, the volume of the loop on the head is around 1 o'clock. Last week my 2 EL 34 burned so I had them changed of course at a chop near my place. Yesterday I plugged back my setup and there is a big difference in the volume...
