What can I do to make me like my Dual Recto?

O I've done that. Just for fun. It sounded exactly like the Rect-o-verb 50 I bought, hated and returned for a new cab for the DR. The thing is, I just don't like the increased breakup from a 50W amp. I love the headroom of a 100W amp. Regarding your statement, I humbly disagree. I'm a firm...

    FS: Mesa 3-channel Dual Rectifier

Hey. I'm selling my Recent Mesa/Boogie Dual Rectifier 3-channel. The amp is in almost perfect condition. A little dusty, but that's really it. No noise/hum, no scratchy pots. It currently has JJ E34L's in it, I will include the stock Mesa 6L6 tubes. I also have the original footswitch, ftsw...

What can I do to make me like my Dual Recto?

Honestly, I don't *have* to nail his tone exactly. Honestly, Morello's JCM800 into peavey 4x12" cab wasn't my idea of 'amazing tone' I don't necessarily have to nail is tone perfectly - from what I can gather, its easier to 'loosen' the tone on a mark IV to simulate a mid-gainy, classic...

What can I do to make me like my Dual Recto?

Well actually - thats exactly what I was thinking of doing. :D Having the speaker in the enclosure for home practice. When taking it to practice/gigs - remove the speaker to save weight. Sure, the head is convenient. But, I wouldn't be able to use the head at home, because I refuse to carry...

What can I do to make me like my Dual Recto?

I'm looking at a Mark IV combo, actually - I already have the recto cab at my band's practice space. It might be a little convenient to have a combo, plug it in at practice, and then bring it home and be able to use the combo at home. I can imagine it weighs almost 90 lbs with the speaker...

What can I do to make me like my Dual Recto?

Platypus, and everyone else in this thread, you guys are right. Especially after playing a gig today and being unhappy with the tone. I guess Mark IV it is. :) Now the only problem is, selling the DR and finding a Mark IV head. :( Looks like I might be posting a 'For Sale' thread soon.. Thanks.

What can I do to make me like my Dual Recto?

Wow. I never knew I would get this many replies. Currently, I'm in a RATM tribute band (www.myspace.com/thebattleoflosangeles), but I fill in for a couple of friend's bands, and record a couple of tracks too with the DR. I originally chose the DR because of the 3-channel versatility, but the...

What can I do to make me like my Dual Recto?

Hey, I've asked you guys for advice when it came to the amp purchases and have always got great responses, so I thought I'd ask again. I'm having a little issue with my 3-channel Dual Recto. It doesen't sound that good anymore. It was my first real 100W tube amp, and it sounded amazing when I...

May I Have Your Attenuation Please

All attenuators will affect the tone. Any amp not operating at full capacity will not give you the tone from full capacity. That being said, it's a good tradeoff, if you MUST use your amp at bedroom levels. I'd recommend the THD hotplate.

my f-50 rig sounds like load and reload tones

Yeah man. I remember when I had my F-50, it sounded very mid-heavy, woody, and 'solid'. Much akin to 'upped-mid' sound of Load/ReLoad/Garage Inc. era Metallica.

Which 50w all tube head + 4x12 cabs for classic rock/Metal?

A used F-50 head is also a good idea. They pop up on ebay ever so often and they arent too bad on the wallet. I mean, for 50 watts, the Single Rectifier solo head (the one with the treadplate) or the Rectoverb head are perfrect. They only have 2 channels but the amp in total has 5 modes. If...

Which 50w all tube head + 4x12 cabs for classic rock/Metal?

Yeah I was about to recommend the Ace head. But the single recto solo head or the single recto rectoverb head is also a good choice as well.

    Boogie Rectifiers and reverb pedals

I like to use very light reverb to give my distored rhythm parts body. I like light to medium reverb to give my distorted solo parts more presence.

    New Cab for the Rectifier?!?!

How about the smaller Stiletto cabs from Mesa? Supposedly the smaller size produces a sound similar to what you're after.

    Boost/Distortion pedals for Rectifiers?

Hey. I think my next purchase for my amp will probably be a distortion/boost pedal to 'slam' the front end. I keep hearing from you guys all these great things from boosting the front end and interested in trying out. Can you guys name some boosters and pedals you could recommend for this...

So I went to GC yesterday to buy a Roadster....

Have you tried just calling all the dealers in the tri-state area? NY, NJ, CT, even maybe Delaware? At least one of them must have one. I was thinking about doing that when I wanted a stiletto ace (no one here in Queens/LI, NY seems to have one), and then if they didnt want to ship, I would...

    PROBABLY DUMB IDEA

I suppose it would be an interesting idea. I guess if you had the cash to spare a stiletto head and the time/expertise to convert it to use the 6L6. Anything's possible. Maybe it would be a unique sound, like a recto with EL34's.
