Koprofag - Don't let our assessments scare you away from trying the amp. If you really don't need an amp that has Recto-level gains stock for stock directly from the preamp, you might be happy with the express' tone and adjustability. While I wouldn't use it as my main amp, the express has a...

So was I. I finally had to oppurtunity to sit down with an Express 5:50 the other day for a good amount of time, and was able to play with all the modes in a sound proof room. I used to own a Rect-o-verb series II combo and an F-50, and was interested in how the Express fairs as a replacement...

Will the Roadster give me the same sounds as the Roadking?

Keep in mind alot that had to do with Petrucci's tone on those albums we're the fact that he tuned down almost 2 whole steps (to C I believe) and used 12 gauge strings. That being said, I suppose you could achieve his tone with a roadster, but not so much if Petrucci employed Progressive...

    Mark 4 question

    My A rackmount is attached.

    Look who's back at it...

You're just saying that 'cuz you're GASing for a Mark IV. Admit it. :D

    A couple Mark 4 questions????

I use a Recto 2x12" horizontal cabinet w/ my Mark IV. I like it alot over other cabs because the bass response gives the Mark IV a bigger sound - especially when setting it to high gain.

Can you guys recommend me a good CHEAP 1x12" cab?

Hey guys. I'm looking to purchase a decent 1x12" cab strictly for home use. It doesen't have to be great, just something for the home, when I feel the urge to play or work on tones or songs - nothing too serious. Most of all - it has to be CHEAP. I'm only looking to spend at the most $150 - I...

Dimarzio Evo's with a Mark IV?

Ibanez4Life, Try the D-Activators. I just recently put them in my EB/MM John Petrucci and been completely blown away by them. I found they had just the right amount of output, with harmonics and clarity oozing out.

Why is my Mark IV so noisy?

I'm plugged directly in at home. No effects, and the EFX loop is off. I'm also using a Fuman Power Conditioner M-8L with it. The Mark IV is plugged into the furman, and the furman is the only plug into the wall. My apartment's wiring is brand new, and I certainly did not have these issues at...

Why is my Mark IV so noisy?

I love the thing, but.. it is sooo noisy. Even at low volumes, and worse at higher volumes. I've tried both guitars (my Gibson Les Paul Classic w/ EMG's and EB/MM JP6) and the noise level is so high. My amp is an early A model, looks like someone marked 'MB 10-90' with a red marker(?), and...

    Wow. I love this thing.

I have my Fulltone Clyde Wah, Digitech Whammy, Boss DD-6 Delay, Boss BF-2 flanger, Voodoo labs tremolo, Boss tuner, and ISP decimator going into the input. I still have my bad monkey also in there, but it is currently off, as there is enough gain and noise to deal with as it is. :)

    Wow. I love this thing.

I honestly don't think I will need another amp for a while. I think it's really that good. And it's exactly what I wanted; when i plugged it in and played with the knobs I instantly got a usable tone. It was amazing. The first time I plugged it in was right before band practice. I forgot the...

    Wow. I love this thing.

Sorry man, I can no longer curb my excitement for this thing. I can't wait to get some new tubes for it, once I get 'em I can def tell this amp is going to BURN.

    Wow. I love this thing.

Got the Mark IV today, used it at band practice. Quite possibly one of the best amps I've ever played. Seriously. The tone, harmonics, and dynamics are so clean - so beautiful, it simply blows away the Dual Rectifier. This is definitely the tone I was searching for. I was able to get complex...

Ok. When did they stop making the rackmount Mark IV's?

When did they stop making the rackmount Mark IV's? BTW, in case you can't tell - I just purchased a rackmount Mark IV :) - It should be here tommorow. I can't wait!

    FS MARK IV Brand New!

No it's not. If you purchase another, short speaker cable, you can connect the hotplate in between the speaker lead and the speaker out on the combo. You just have to make sure you are using the right hotplate to match the Ohms the amp is seeing and the speaker is receiving. :)

Well, I'm officially on the lookout..

Hey. I've decided to go ahead and just look for a Mark IV Head or Rackmount, and sell my Dual Recto later. Are the heads/rackmounts going for more than the combos?

Who wants a MINT Mesa Mark IV for *Cheap*?

    Damnit! I missed it!

What can I do to make me like my Dual Recto?

If you like the recto tone that's fine. I like it too, but the cleans leave so much to be desired, and the recto voicing is just not what I want. People may have got some great tones with a recto and some outboard gear, but I don't have access to much except the amp and the guitar. Again, I feel...
