    post your Mark IV rig

While I do love Petrucci's playing, I suppose it's more that him and I see eye to eye when it comes to designing a guitar. If it didn't have his name on it, I'd still buy one. That neck. O my, that neck.

WTB: Anyone have a Mesa short head shell to sell?

Looking for a Short head shell that will fit my Mark IV. Currently it's a rackmount and I'd love to get into a head shell. Thanks!

Goooood times with mark IV and a BB pre

I know exactly what you mean. I have a 1990 example, and it does the exact same things. It's broke, and now I'm anxious to hear what a tune up can do.

Help. Capacitor came off PCB inside Mark IV!

Thanks for the reply. I guess I'm thinking of PC's and motherboards and how if I were to pull a capacitor off that, that would be considered 'done'. lol Yeah, I def made sure not to plug it in or anything.

Help. Capacitor came off PCB inside Mark IV!

The top cover of my Mark IV rackmount wasn't securely fastened (stupid me) and managed to knock off a capacitor on the actual PCB in the chassis of the Amp. I'm not sure what having a PCB board means in this situation, but please don't tell me my amp is done for? Can a technician solder that...

Should you use certain types of tubes with a Mark IV?

Yes sir, your post is exactly why I want to experiment with tubes! I love the way my Mark IV sounds, but I can't help but wonder if its possible to improve it. When you say vintage ones, do you mean NOS?

Should you use certain types of tubes with a Mark IV?

Hey, I'm thinking about swapping some tubes and wonder, if I want to run 6L6's + EL34's in Simul-class, would it be safe to use any 6L6 or EL34? Thanks!

    Mark IV loud hum.

I see. I think I know what you mean regarding a million different things, and that's what I was afraid of. I was thinking of just buying a new set of tubes first, switching them out and seeing if the problem goes away. Would anyone recommend I do that first before seeking a tech? I've...

    Mark IV loud hum.

Hey all, I have a '92 Mark IV A Rackmount that I love, however it seems to have a loud, constant hum. Thing is, the severity of the noise is intermittent, I'll have some days where the noise is bearable and others where the noise sounds like a pack of helicopters near by. I'd like to get this...

Single rectifier is desesperatly looking for tightness...

I had a Single Recto, which I sold for a Dual Rectifier 3-channel, and went through the exact same thing you're going through. It did the recto sound alright, but it wasn't tight enough, wasn't articulate enough, all flab, etc. I tried boosting it. I got a Digitech Bad Monkey (great...

    A Slut With No Personality

Take it back and show guitar center. Have them take out another triple recto and see if its just as noisy. That might be your best bet, as most guitar centers around hardly ever have the roadster in stock.

Couldn't pass it for the price...

    Lucky bum. :) Congrats, though.

Baker Street by the Foo Fighters...

I've read somewhere that the tones off that era - The Colour and the Shape/soundtrack clips, were from a early 90's Mesa Dual Rectifer 2-channel.

    Mark IV Question

I'm not exactly sure, but I assume it has to do with different bias adjustments with the inside and outside pairs of the power tubes. Bob from eurotubes says that the inside tube sockets are puposely biased colder than the outside sockets, which facilitate the use of 6L6's in the inside...

What kind of Mark 4 is this? Pics inside

You can also tell by the cabinet material. The 'B' Models have that smoother, 'black taunus (or taurus) vinyl'. The A's used to have that grainier, plastic looking vinyl.

    HEADS AND POWER AMPS

When you're buying guitar amplifiers in this range, as in, professional levels, it's generally agreed that loudness or 'volume' level DOES NOT make one amp better than the other. You buy the amp based on your needs and wants when it comes to tone. As other posters have mentioned, its more the...

First post here: Hi - MKIV question

Yea it does. You instantly hear a noticeable upper mid-shift in tone, characteristic of EL34/Marshall amps, a change from the 'heavier' low-mid accentuation of the 6L6/Recitifer/Fender amps. I LOVE the Mk IV because it lets me run both tubes, which I do. I love the upper-mid shift of the 34's...

    Post removed.

My response? Do it. Get it. It's Mesa, and I doubt you would be disappointed. Also what kind of guitar did you use to try it out? What type of pickups?

Changed the tubes on my '90 Mark IV...

I just received my full retube kit from Bob at Eurotubes. Got the 6L6/E34L combo with the high gain preamp. Put it in today at practice and all I could say is 'wow'. The traditional Mark tightness, dynamics and feel seemed to be magnified two fold, and the E34L/6L6 combo definitely adds that...
