Thanks for clearing things up. When I say more aggressive I guess I'm talking about which has more bite, less smooth, more edgy, more abrasive, more raw, sharper on treble strings, sounds more angry when playing power chords, etc.
There has been a lot different opinions about the differences between blue and green stripe. Some say the blue is more aggressive, some say the green is tighter and stiffer. As far as I know the only difference is that the green is wired in pentode and that some blues did not have simul class...
So I just bought at a guitar center a 50 caliber plus head in virtually mint condition for $400. The head is smaller and lighter than I expected it to be. So far I really like it. The cleans are really nice, but I think the cleans on my mark iii and mark v are better. The reverb is...
Can anybody tell about the tonal differences between these two amps? I hear the non-plus is more raw and aggressive, which is what I want and they are generally harder to find for sale than the plus version. Are there really any other differences besides the standard having El-84's and the...
I thought the green stripe was the same thing as the blue stripe except that it is wired in pentode as opposed to triode. If that's the case I would think the green would be at least as aggressive, and also more tight and punchy. The only reason I can think of of why a blue might be more...
I actually found the crunch mode to be most similar to my mark iii green stripe, but still very different overall. IMO the mark v just can't get the mark iii sound.
I heard from some people that the T-Rex Roommate is the best reverb pedal, but it's ridiculously overpriced IMO. Also, I heard the Solid Gold FX reverb is really good.
I noticed that on the EL-34's I ordered one one of them said 10 at the bottom with a small space and then 50 next to it and another one of them said 1143 at the bottom also with a small space. Does this have anything to do with the range or is it just a serial number.
Actually I did not. I just simply ordered them off of amazon because I found them for a good price. I hope these tubes will still work okay. Also, I don't know if this matters, but on three of the four boxes for the tubes there is a circular sticker that says 25 on top and underneath 4.5 and...
So I just got today a set of SED Winged C EL-34's for my mark v. I was wondering if when I change from the stock 6L6's to these EL-34's if all I have to do is remove the 6L6's, put the bias switch to EL-34, and then just put the EL-34's. Also it says that these SED Winged C EL-34's are...
Would the mark iii's that you found more aggressive be either the red or purple striped ones I see in you sig.
I also own a mark v and find myself playing my mark iii green stripe way more often, but the mark v is better for certain things.
I think some people say the mark iv and mark iii green stripe are similar because they both are wired in pentode, but everyone else who responded to this thread seems to agree that mark iv and mark iii green stripe have many tonal differences. When I played the mark iv there was a certain...
I know this is a very noobish question, but when I edit my profile and go to the part where I put in my signature is that where you list the gear you have or does that go somewhere else?
