^ This! If you don't like the tone that you can build from the amp alone, then you must look for other ones in the market

Jason... go out and try other amps, guitars... stuff. Please!!! Don't spend more money wishing things will turn the way you want them to. I understand that it may take an effort to find stores or places to try but believe me: Where I live it's way more difficult. Just try stuff by yourself and...

You just have to understand that different people have different tastes... Nobody is out of his element ;) I bet many people out there love the amps that you were never satisfied with And I don´t have a low opinion on the Roadster. Great amp and great tones. Just not what I was after. Tone is...

That's what I've been trying to point out. This guy is doing exactle the same mistakes I did before. The Roadster is the best amp in the world... for some! If all the people liked the same amp, then wpuldn't be more than one company and one model of amps. I tried the tubes, the overdrive in...

I think not. Even if you buy new tubes what will happen is: Even though the new tubes will produce a noticeable change, this change will hardly meet your expectations right now. And you will spend $140+ and end up beeing not satisfied enough... again! I've just sold my Roadster and although I...

    EVH 5150 III

Thanks It helps a lot! That's exactly what I'm looking for, specially the kind of distortion that you mentioned. I just need to go in a different direction from the Rectifiers. And I've been looking for someone here to compare the 5150 III to the Mark series, but in a Mesa Boogie's forum...

    Peavey 5150 or Laney VH100R?

Hey ixoye777 I've just sold my Roadster and I'm looking for a totally different amp. Right now, and unable to try it by myself yet, the EVH 5150 III is beeing on my mind to replace the Mesa. Can you make a review and a comparison between the two amps? Thanks You can also answer to my post...

I had exactly the same problem. Some say to crank the treble but it sounds even worse. You know, when it comes to amps, the tastes vary so much. What is a great sound for some it's not to others. I tried so hard to like my Roadster, tried all possible eq's, putted an overdrive in front, etc...

    EVH 5150 III

C'mon guys! It's really hard to try amps around here. I need more opinions on this one. If everything goes well I will deliver my Roadster to his new owner next Tuesday. I'm not in a rush to buy a new amp, but I want to have all my rig set as soon as possible. Thanks in advance guys ;)

    EVH 5150 III

Reallyyyyy nice! However, it's hard to believe those settings... 50% Gain? 15% lows? Doesn't it has post EQ? I know that he says the chain it's only the guitar and amp through a cab, but I can hear a delay in the solo... But it really seems beautiful for recoring. But the lack of mids (as in...

    EVH 5150 III

Hi everyone! I would like to know more things about this head. From where I am, I have no chances to try one easily, so I hope you can help me. I believe my Roadster will be gone soon, so I need to replace it. I've been searching a lot last weeks (if not months) and I'm still not sure. I'm sure...

    Peavey 5150 or Laney VH100R?

Actually, I am selling my Roadster and I'm interested in the VH100r and the EVH 5150 III, so any opinios regarding those two are welcome (I know that we're not talking about the same 5150. Anyway...). I also would be interested in a Mark IV or V but these are so much expensive here in Europe. I...

    Laney VH100r

Thanks YellowJacket I definitely agree with your first statement. And living where these amps are so expensive and hard to find/sell, makes it more evident. That's why I've been containing myself, trying to make sure I won't make a mistake as I did when I bought the Roadster. That's not my kind...

    Laney VH100r

Thanks guys I have the oportunity to try an Engl Invader that goes for about the same price than the Laney. I've been thinking about so many amps lately and it's really hard to try them in my country. The ones that still remain in my mind are the Laney, the Fryette sig:x and the EVH 5150 III...

    Laney VH100r

And what about EVH 5150 III? It's been in my mind for a while. No chance to try one nearby, but it seems really nice for my needs. It is said to be extremely tight, even compared to Mark series. Nice clean and crunch. Can it do metal? For the leads I assume it would be killer. Opinions...

    Laney VH100r

Thanks KH Guitar Freak ;) I've tried all the possible settings. And that amount of treble just don't do it, for me. In what concerns to the Stiletto, it was one of the possibilities, if I didn't need more metal tones. If I was only choosing an amp for my solo project, that was definitely one of...

    Laney VH100r

I heard his tones, cradlefish :) They're awsome. But he uses a OD808 in front, I remember that he said that somewhere. And Collibus is a great band. For me, the relationship with the Roadster has been love-hate. I think that I love channels 1 and 4 and hate channels 2 and 3. That's not enough...

    Laney VH100r

I'm going for the head, for sure. But how about the leads in this particularly head? I know tht the GH series have a great lead tone. However, I really need, at least, 2 channels. I've heard some guys using the VH100r with great leads, but having an overdrive in front of the amp. I want to know...

    Laney VH100r

Hi I'm thinkin about replace my Mesa Boogie Roadster. I need a fast attack, responsive and tight amp for fast lead passages. I was thinking about a Mark IV or V, Diezel VH4 or Engl Invader. However, I've heard great things about the Laney VH100r. Basically, I need great cleans and great...
