I don't have a problem getting a guitar's character to come thru my Mark IV. Tho I guess I can imagine how someone could do so...crank the gain and the volume then suck out all the mids and I can easily see it happening - on any amp.

I am looking to buy a 2x12 vertical halfback cabinet. A white one would be greatly preferred! With or without speakers loaded...either way is fine. If you have a white 2x12 halfback loaded with EVM's that'd be ideal 8)

What speakers are in this cabinet? I'd be interested in it..

I was just reading an old post where Boogiebabies stated some info regarding the current draw on #5 6L6GE's from Groove Tubes - and how they do not properly bias in a C+ if using the #5's. Hopefully Boogiebabies or another guru can chime in on my question below. I am about to buy some tubes...

Since you were playing around with an external speaker, first try plugging a cable into the external speaker jacks a few times..to make sure a jack isn't giving you trouble. If it isn't a jack issue, try tapping on the preamp tubes as you mentioned. Not sure how effective it would be to tap on...

If that preamp tube kit takes the flabbiness out of R2 then I will definitely try it! Thanks for the tip :)

My R2 sound is always too flabby. I know I should retube this thing but i've been holding off on that in hopes of finding some str-415's to put in the amp when I retube.

My MarkIII did the same thing last week and it ended up being a defective jack in the speaker cabinet. If you are using a head i'd first check the cable and the cabinet wiring/components. In my case it was a very easy fix...but would have been certain death to my MarkIII had I not caught it.

I *loved* my old LSS with Celestion Gold speakers loaded. I miss it like mad...may have to replace that setup over the summer.

The 2x12 cabinet I have lets me use both speakers, or the top speaker alone, or the bottom speaker alone. Since I like the sound of both speakers I run it like that all the time, and I never have issues with it being too loud...so long as I use the tweed setting, class A mode etc. Another...

You are correct. That is too early to be a c+. According to http://forum.grailtone.com/viewtopic.php?t=18184 .... the serial numbers for c+ amps range from ~12,500 to ~14,400.

According to the UPS website, UPS Ground would run $12.05 per speaker. I guess that sounds about right...I am located in 40391 (just outside Lexington,KY).
