LSS not good with Humbuckers? What?

I've found that I need to drop the guitar volume a bit when using Humbuckers on channel 2 with drive on and some gain, I can never use them at full output, usually I dial it back 10~20%. This cuts the highs a bit, which the LSS has tons of, and kinda clears brings more definition to the sound...

Lonestar Special Lead boost will not kick in

"I am trying to figure how to enable the effects loops so I can see if that is the issue ...Do I need to actually put pedals there or run a cable b/t send and return ??" You want to set the switch next to the effects loop return jack to "LOOP IN", you don't need to have anything plugged in (if...

    Lonestar Classic Lead Channel Problem

Glad to hear its fixed, by the way, the fading out should have been a dead give away. Once you switched to the drive channel and the diodes were switched out it took a couple seconds for the B+ voltage to leak away. I'm gonna etch that into my memory.

    Lonestar Classic Lead Channel Problem

Do you run the clean channel and 100W lead channel at 50W and have Rectifier tracking enabled? Then it could be a bad Rectifier Tube, try setting the rectifier to "Diodes" if the problem goes away buy a new tube.

What do you stick in front of your MESA

I've been using my "new to me" Lonestar Special for about 3 months with just the guitar (Fender Fat Strat/Texas Specials, Seymour Duncan Pearly Gates Humbucker in the Bridge). The only up front control I use is the guitar volume, which I drop down to 8 when I run the Humbucker. I also have...

    LSC - Feedback Issue??

The Thick/Thicker switch works with or without drive engaged, it is merely switches in different capacitors for the treble section of the tone stack. Thick adds adds in 250pf Thicker adds in 500pf. The rest of the tone stage is the standard Fender style. The tone stack of the Lone star is...

    LSC - Feedback Issue??

You might want to check if it is Reverb feedback, several people have had reverb feedback problems with the LSS. If it goes away when you cut the reverb level to 0 its in the reverb circuit/pan (you can do that when you hear the feedback). If so contact Mesa.

My New LSS.. How long does your amp take to get sweet?

OK, played with it a bit more tonight, I'm using a Fat Strat w/Texas Special Single Coils in the neck and middle, S.Duncans Humbucker in the bridge. During that initial warm up period it seems to be overly sensitive to the Humbuckers in the Channel 2, seems like there is more gain for that...

My New LSS.. How long does your amp take to get sweet?

I've finally joined the Mesa club, after buying a pre-owned Lone Star Special (I've been wanting one for 6 months now). This amp had some pre-amp tube issues: - Microphonic squealling on Ch2 with Reverb On (replacing V4(reverb) seemed to do it) - Auto Gain on both channels when I hit certain...

    Chassis Straps???

Err, they are for fender rather than mesas, but I don't know anyplace else that stock these things.

    Chassis Straps???

http://www.ampwares.com/ seems to have some I can't find them here: http://www.vibroworld.com/ but they probably have them. You'll have to decide if they are the right size for you.

    Mark IIC+ scheme wanted

Patents prevent you from profiting from another person's/company's invention. They do not prevent you from building one of your own to see how the invention works, just don't sell it if the patent is still in force. The public disclosure requirement of patents is supposed to foster innovation...

    Mark IIC+ scheme wanted

like phantomlord2oo sez, it'll be tough without access to a comparable transformer. Particularly if you want to do Simulclass, which seems to be a big plus in the IIC+ world. Some barely legible schematics can be found at http://www.schematicheaven.com/index_FLASH.htm direct link for the Mark...

Smooth, singing, clear LSS lead sound?

Great news timmerel, I'll add this thread to my notes for the next time I'm in GC wearing out the floor model. Someday I'll actually buy one.

    Tube Matching - LoneStar Special

Once again, according to Mesa the Lonestar Special does not switch between Class AB and Class A. (see note) It is always Class A. It does switch between a Single Ended and a Push Pull output configuration. In a quick search could find no other Mesa amps (or guitar amps) that switch between...

    Tube Matching - LoneStar Special

Just a word of correction here; based on Mesa's description the Lonestar Special is all Class A. Class refers to the bias setting of the amp which (along with some other parameters) determine whether the tube amplifies the positive and negative half of the signal (class A), just one half (Class...
