I personally think the Mark IV's gain generates the most beautiful tone for leads. I never played a roadking but I did have a dual rec and a triple rec. Both sound too fizzy for leads. I guess roadking is a little smoother but on the same scale. Also mark IV has more gain and sounds excellent...

No they are not! They are talent attenuators since JP's talent usually blows few audiences apart per night. They kind of work like a hotplate. They are made of metal so that heat can radiate more efficiently.

I personal feel that if you do sell it, you will regret it later on. ( I do this a lot in the past and I always wish i didn't make those decisions. ) Of course this is just my personal opinion though. But still, i haven't heard a better sounding amp than the mark IV.

I had several Mark amps in the past, (DC-3 dual rec, triple rec) and i could never find a good petrucci-ish lead tone. The triple rec doesn't have enough gain for lead and it's kind of clunky. I got this Mark IV wide body combo and plugged it into my cab and it sings! I have the gain level at 8...
