Predict the futurist amp sounds --come in and discuss

Ok, I've been thinking about this for a while. When the marshall master volume series came out, people thought it was the "modern sound". More gain and a great change for the guitar world. But now it became "vintage". When boogie came out, it adds in more gain to eliminate the use of a front end...

    Mark Iv filter caps

Thanks for your detailed replay, stokes. It really helps. So instead of getting to the other side of PCB, you just leave 1/2 inch of leads and solder your cap onto those leads. that's totally a good idea.

    Mark Iv filter caps

Sorry i didn't quite get that. Does it mean the 3 littles on the main board are also filter caps? Or are they electrolytic capacitors. Those on the main board are really hard to reach since all the soldering points are under the PCB. I can't get the PCB out without desolder a lot of wires.

Hi, ARe the filter caps the 2 220uF by the power cord? there are 3 blue ones also on the main board. I guess i don't have to change those? Thanks!

    clean channel problem

It's much more complicated in that case. The following LDRs (and its functions) are different between the red and orange channels: LDR 5: select Red gain pot LDR 6: select orange gain pot LDR 8: select Red tone caps LDR 9: select orange tone caps LDR 14: select Red master pot LDR 15: select...

    clean channel problem

Here do a quick test for me. Can you switch the orange channel to "more gain" in the back? Does the problem still exist? IF not I can narrow down the problem to a few resister/capacitors. I've been studying this 2 channel schematics for a whole day today to track a humming issue on the clean...

    DR clean channel humming

HI, I just noticed that my DR's clean channel has this low humming (almost like 60 Hz) even if the guitar's not plugged in. Volume wise it's not too loud but isn't the clean supposed to be very quiet without a guitar plugged in? When I kick in the the Red channel, the humming's mostly gone...

People just don't understand, BUT YOU GUYS WILL!!!!

You seem to like this better than the Bogner ya? Is the Bogner as mid rangy as the mark IV? I played a lot of amps but haven't found one close to a Mark IV.

Mesa Boogie Road King vs Mark iv

I don't own a rk but i own a 2 chan recto which I heard sound a lot like a rk. I also own a mark IV but I think the mark IV has a lot more USABLE gain than the rectos. If sustain is what you are after, the Mark IV gives endless sustains at even lower volumes while the recto becomes fizzy with...

    Dual Rec Question for tone

You will probably have better chance of getting a smooth lead tone with a 2 channel recto than a 3 channel. I had a 3 chan Recto and I hated the fizzy tone and i traded it for a mark IV. My search for tone ends right there. Mark IV's just insane for lead works. Then I saw a great deal on a 2...

    FT, Mark IV widebody combo

Hi, I want to trade this mesa boogie Mark IV widebody combo with your Mark IV medium head. The easiest way to do I think is to trade the combo shell with your headshell. I'll include the reverb tank and the blackshadow speaker at no cost. The combo's a black with the mesa boogie tolex. We will...

Should I sell my mark IV and recto for a mark IIC+????

Ok, I've seen the videos of a mark IIC+ and seen the comments of members here. Makes me GASing for a IIC+ really bad. I've never played a C+ in person so there's a risk if I buy it online. I'm happy for my current rig. If I can afford buying a new amp without selling the 2 amps, I would rather...

just bought a IIC+(some info pls)

haha, I cover quite a few of DT's songs and I'm a huge fan of John. . If you ever see him again, let me know since I may have a few questions for you to ask him.. Yeah, I do hear people boosting their R2 to for the rhythm and it sounds great. I use a SD-1 on my rectos but find it quite useless...

just bought a IIC+(some info pls)

If you don't like the lead, you can just get a A/B switch and change to your Mark IV. (Like he did on the Once in a LIVEtime tour.) I've heard John testing his IIC+ before the show on youtube and it's just MASSIVE with his traditional cabs. Gain-wise, do you feel it has enough or do you need...

just bought a IIC+(some info pls)

Wow, I've never played or even seen a Mark II C+ in my life. My Mark IV already blows me away but you said this is ton better!!! Now I really have bad GAS. But Petrucci once mentioned it doesn't do lead really well so he used Mark IV for leads. Do you like your lead tone of that II C+??? Man...

What's the differences between gain and sustain??

thanks Fish. The only thing I didn't understand was that people always say DR has too much gain but to me it never gives me enough sustain when playing legato praises compared to my mark IV.
