What Mark Series Amps Require NOS Output Tubes?

Ok gotcha. Do they burn through modern tubes faster?

    Boost Pedals in Effects Loop

Also please let me know if any of you guys have had luck using other eq pedals in the loop. The Mesa one is expensive:( Something cheaper would be ideal.

Who is Still Gigging Their Vintage Mark Series Amps?

Was it acting up in any way, or overheating?

What Mark Series Amps Require NOS Output Tubes?

I know the Mark IIC+ amps with the 105 PT require NOS tubes. Do any other Boogie's require NOS glass?

    Boost Pedals in Effects Loop

Anyone ever put a really mid-heavy pedal like a tubescreamer in the effects loop of a mark series amp to boost volume and mids for solos?

    Mark III+ Mod Still Available?

Played a stock Mark III 1/12 60 watt combo with graphic EQ this weekend. It was pretty awesome. I preferred it over the new Mesas I've played. I'm going to pick one of those up soon and maybe get the mod on down the line. The Mark IIIs seem like such a great deal.

    Mark III+ Mod Still Available?

I contacted Mesa and they said Mike B will only do the mod if he services the amp too. Servicing was $200-300 and the mod was $200 I think. That is without shipping each way which you'd also have to pay for of course....adds up pretty fast.

Another Mark V:35 "Is It Loud Enough?" Thread

Ok that is good to hear. Could always run into one of my extension cabs of course too for an outdoor gig. I tried one out....very nice sounding amp.

    Boost Pedals in Effects Loop

I played a Mark III 60 watt 1/12 combo with EQ at a music shop yesterday. I actually preferred the tone to that of the JP2C. I don't know if I can justify spending the additional money that the JP2C costs for just the features. This thing was LOUD for 60 watts too.

Who is Still Gigging Their Vintage Mark Series Amps?

How often do you guys generally need to service your vintage boogies? I've never owned a vintage one, but think I'm going to take the plunge. My vintage 1965 Fender Deluxe needs a visit to the tech every 2 years or so. Usually it starts making frying egg noises and another part needs to be replaced.

    Boost Pedals in Effects Loop

Ok thanks:) Yeah I was thinking more in terms of the Mark IIC+ and Mark III because they don't have channel switching with independent eq between their channels. I was interested to know if you can do this with the Mark IV and Vs though anyways. It's good to know that the effects loop works on...

60 Watt Mark II C+ Combo Weight

Is a 60-watt version likely to have one of the output transformers in it that is hard on tubes? I know that some of the Mark IIC+ amps require really heavy duty tubes because the plate voltage is really high on them. I'm not sure if that is just for the 100 watt C+ amps though.

    Boost Pedals in Effects Loop

I'm in a really loud band where I need to boost my guitar's volume pretty heavily for solos. I also would ideally like to boost mids a little when I'm taking leads. How good are the effects loops in the various Mark series amps for doing this if I were to put a boost pedal in them? Would the...

60 Watt Mark II C+ Combo Weight

I'll definitely keep that in mind and pm you if I buy the amp and want to go this route. I'd probably have to wait a little while for my bank account to recover of course haha.

60 Watt Mark II C+ Combo Weight

That's actually not as bad as I would have expected. 50lbs is roughly the point where I want to switch to the head/cab setup to split up the weight. It is worth saying too that the Mark IIB I had was a 15 inch version, so it would have been a little heavier than a 12 inch version. I think it had...

60 Watt Mark II C+ Combo Weight

Also, which transformers on these are really rough on power amp tubes? I know the 105 transformers are. I'm trying to avoid having to buy NOS glass. I also am keeping an eye out for a Mark III locally in case I can score a really good deal. Do any transformers for these require NOS power tubes?

60 Watt Mark II C+ Combo Weight

Interesting idea. That's an option. Transporting both a head and a cab could be tough for me in some situations. If both were an option that might work though.

60 Watt Mark II C+ Combo Weight

Yeah, I've been thinking of getting a cart of some sort. I have to take a cab to a lot of gigs and often have to carry gear a block or so when I drive. I've found that a 50 lb amp is the max I can carry along with a guitar and pedals. I tend to use the lighter gear more and more and use the...
