LoneSar Classic (Old Style) vs LoneStar Special

I've played the Special and own the Classic. The Special is a great amp but in my humble opinion, keep the Classic. The Classic has just about everything going for it. 6L6, EL34 or 6V6's. Power to spare and a very stable platform.

Just played and then bought a DC-5-WOW

Hi Charles! Thank you for all of the information. I actually called Mesa and they sent me the schematics and a tube chart. Their customer service is really great. The lead channel is a little over the top for me but I'll play around with it for a while. I can't get over how loud this amp is...

Just played and then bought a DC-5-WOW

I walked into my local music store and they had a later model DC-5 head for sale so I tried it out and WOW. What a great sounding amp. You don't hear too much about them on the forum. I bought that baby on the spot. Very good cleans and the lead channel is great. I tried it a home through a...

    Lonestar Clean Channel Problem

When I first got my lonestar it sounded great with the stock Mesa tubes. Well, I though if I got some cool NOS and new preamp tubes and added some new power tubes it would sound even better. As it turned out, all but one of the stock Mesa tubes are back in there. I was getting noise all over...

    Lonestar Clean Channel Problem

Just for the heck of it I would check and change out those preamp tubes again. I had the same problem on channel 2 and it turned out to be V2. If your channel 2 is working OK then it's probably not the power or rectifier tubes which only leaves the preamps. Just a thought.

Suggestions for second amp to run with LSC.

I would like your suggestions for a second amp to run with my LSC. I could just go with another LSC but thought you guys could offer some insight into something that is a little different but still has the great clean but possibly with a little more grit. I would like something that would...

The best rackmount guitar wireless unit available?

JW123-I had the same problem with the little pedal. Some drop outs etc. I switched it to the rack unit and have not looked back.

The best rackmount guitar wireless unit available?

I've had my X2 rackmount for four months now and there is nothing out there that compares. I also own a Seinheiser 172 and it sits in it's box now. To me, the X2 actually makes the sound better. I was having some hum problems when turning down the volume on my guitars and with the X2 that...

    Question For The Lonestar Owners

Mesa uses a foil shield on the top of the cabinet/head that the chassis screws into. It's possible that your tech damaged the connection where the chassis screws into this foil. All four of the chassis and handle screws make contact with this foil. Just a thought.

    Goosing the LSS?

I have the BB and the RC and both of them are great pedals. A couple of weeks ago I picked up a Fulltone OCD and in a way it's like the BB but with less compression. The OCD adds a harmonic tone that's really interesting. In fact I use the RC as a boost for both the BB and OCD.

Can any new 'Lonestar classic' owners help me ?

I just turned my 2005 LSC head over to look and there is a square hole but no screw. At least they put a screw in yours! LOL. Give Mesa a call.

Channel 1 not working on my Lonestar

Try another new tube in V5. I've had phase inverters go bad on me causing problems with one channel. Also did you change out the rectifier?

    Mark IV low volume problem

I had this same problem about two weeks ago with my Lonestar. Go to standby for a while and then go live and the volume was way down and then off all of the way. Flip the switch to hard bypass and then everything was alright. I changed out V3 and V5 thinking the problem was either in the FX...

LSC- Finally found what I've been looking for!

BobL-I've got eight years on you and still play live but most of my time is spent in the studio. I guess us "older guys" still have something left! LOL ol4t-Most of the time I use a L5 for jazz and fusion but I love the LSC with Strats and Tele's too.

LSC/LSS owners; are you happy with channel2?Want to fix it?

It only cost me $40.00 to have my tech do the switch and for me it was well worth it (as it turns out, I switched back but that's just a matter of personal taste). The other thing is that, as mentioned in a previous post, Mesa will not void the warrenty if a good soldering job is done...

LSC/LSS owners; are you happy with channel2?Want to fix it?

He used a sort of jumper that connected to the caps. Almost like you would drain a tub of water. I didn't watch the whole process. Maybe someone could chime in that knows what they are doing on the technical side.

LSC/LSS owners; are you happy with channel2?Want to fix it?

I posted sometime back and I just wanted to share something with any non-mechanic types trying this mod. Be very careful with the caps. When I took mine to a tech to do the mod he showed me how much voltage can be stored, he actually got the caps to arch a little bit with the chassis, after...

How do you get the blanket sound off the Rectoverb?

Just for fun plug an EQ in either the front or loop and cut the 200 mHrz slider down just a bit leaving all else neutral across the board. I think you will be surprised.
