My re-tubed LSC gets 5 stars this time around..

Cool. I think I am going to try out the pot swap. Seems simple enough and cost nothing to do

My re-tubed LSC gets 5 stars this time around..

Plan-X..... When you say do the Reedner mod, which one do you mean? Just the pot swap or the mid pot mod. I am thinking of doing the pot swap on channel 2 and am wondering if the mid mod is worth it.

New guy and I have a questions

If you are going to buy a head cab, why not look for an empty 2x12 avatar cab and just load your speakers into that too. Then you can preserve your Mesa LS cab in case you want to sell the amp in the future. You could probably find an empty 2x12 cab easier and cheaper than finding a head cab...

My re-tubed LSC gets 5 stars this time around..

Yea.... Its a great gigin amp once you get use to it. Mine still has Mesa tubes in it butI have a set of JJ's on the way. Itwill be a nice bonus if they improve the tone of my LSC more like everyone on the board says they do. I just wanted a backup set to have in case I ever had problems. I...

Please Help papaw get this lonestar classic to performance

Glad you got your channel 2 back working right. If you have the FX loop bypassed, the solo knob should not effect the overall volume of the amp. They should do nothing even if the solo switch is hit on the foot pedal.

LSC Channel 1 not pushing enough volume.

yeah..... I would suspect a preamp tube going. Swap one preamp tube at a time and see if it changes. If it dont, put the old tube back in and then swap the next one. I would try V1 first

    Leather Handle Ripping

Do you use the handle alot to lift the amp Scienceguy? I probably take the amp out once or twice a week and lift it into the back of my truck. The handle is the only place I can get the right leverage to put it in sideways into the back seat I am just going to put the one on that Mesa sent me...

help with my lonestar special 1x12

How old is the amp?Is it still under warranty? Mesa has a good transferrable 5 year warranty if it is still under warranty. It does not sound like a simple thing for you to fix yourself and probably needs a tech to do some tests.

LSC Channel 1 not pushing enough volume.

Well going by the manual.... It says part of v1 is channel 2 gain and the other part is the frist gain stage. V2 is gain stage 2 and 3 Maybe half of the tube is good and the other half is going bad. Someone else asked if you where using the same power and rectifier settings on both channels...

LSC Channel 1 not pushing enough volume.

I would suspect V1 preamp tube first but try V1 and V2 with a known good tube . Did you try bypassing the FX loop also?

    HELP !!!!!!!!!!!

I think amp techs have a way of testing output of tubes but the best way is to just use your ears. Power fading in and out is a sign of tubes failing. Wieird feedback, ringing noises or tone just sounding bad all of the sudden could be signs of failing tubes also.

    General LSC & LSS Question.....

I have a classic and I would'nt even compare it to a Fender really.... I think it is its own thing. You can get Fender like tones but it is its different. I have owned a few older Super Reverbs and a Vibrolux. The Lonestar takes some getting use to. The tone knobs all affect the others. Once...

    HELP !!!!!!!!!!!

I think guys are telling you to bypass the loop because it is a tube driven loop. If you bypass and it fixes the problem then you are a bad preamp tube for the loop. I forget which one it is. I dont know if V1 only controls the clean channel or if V1 and V2 are for both channels. If you only...

    Buzzing when standby engaged ?

I had a power transformer buzz on my Marshall JMP. I tightened the covers on the transformer a little and the noise almost went away

    Leather Handle Ripping

Are you still under warranty? They just sent me a new one under warranty. I told them it ripped and they said ok.... we will send you another . I gig this amp though and I wouldnt mind putting something else on while I gig it if they are just going to keep ripping.

    Leather Handle Ripping

That looks like it could be a possible solution. Do you know if the dogbone handles are reinforced with a metal strap like the mesa strap? I would hate to put one on and the rubber rips and the amp drops. I may just install the handle Mesa sent and see what happens. If this one rips, I am still...

question for LSC players who use delay in the loop

I had a carbon copy and didnt like it in the loop. it sounded too distorted. I traded it for a Nova Repeater and couldnt be happier. It has 2 inputs. One is for putting it in fx loops

    Buzzing when standby engaged ?

Old thread but..... I noticed noise in standby or volume off too.... turned out to be the fan running making some noise

    Leather Handle Ripping

My Leather handle on my LSC 2x12 has tears in it and it is still under warranty. Mesa sent me another one but I dont want to change it if it is just going to tear again. I use the handle alot to lift it into my truck for gigs. I dont think the handle will actually break because it has a metal...

Lonestar 100/50 vs 100/50/10 Tone Differences?

I have never tried the older model but I really like the 10 watt mode in the drive channel for gigging. I just play bars and dont need serious volume. We mic everything up and try to keep the stage volume down so we dont blow away the people up close. There is still alot of volume left on the...
