Anything with EV's = FAIL. They only operate at around 80 watts. They have the potential to peak at 100+ but not consistently. There are MUCH better speakers out there that have a better response, better tone, better efficiency and much lower price tag. There's a reason no one makes cabs...

start with an eminence wizard. if you don't like it, try and find a good deal on a thiele cab, take the EVM out, sell it and put the wizard in. Or try one of the oversized port city 1X12 cabs and stick the wizard in there. I mention the wizard becuase it handles all generes amazingly well...

For small shows and practice, I use an earcandy buzzbomb with greenmachine speakers. It's wired up to use stereo left/right from the power amp channels or mono if I want to use either my avatar 2X12 or legacy 4X12 cab.

to put an end to this debate in my mind, I ordered a lava ELC 10 foot instrument cable from musicians friend this morning. I have a practically new 10 foot top of the line planet waves cable as well. Our local boutique store sells georgeL, mogami, monster and a few other small name (to me)...

what cables do you use? Does guitar center sell anything worth buying? I've got a few planet waves cables. Most stores, online vendors and manufacturers don't advertise capacitance.

So buying say... the live wire patch cables at guitar center is "good enough" as opposed to the ELC cables?

yeah I was asking mark a few questions (as well as other forumites over at thegearpage) basically asking if it would TRULY be worth it to use the EA cables over the lava ELC kit becuase I could get the ELC kit with a few extra connectors for about $40 less but i mean... for $40, I wouldn't mind...

My preamp sounds like dog crap if I use the standard outputs. I use the recording outputs into my gmajor then power amp... sounds a million times better. smoother and much warmer tone. The regular outputs are very cold, brittle, fizzy, harsh, etc.. :?

It's useless to me and really unnecessary as far as the old preserve the tube life myth. It takes the amp about 15 seconds to actually reach full output.

One other thing worth noting about the studio pre is that odds are, in standby mode you'll hear sound from the amp. It'll be a quiet sound but...and I'm pretty stinking embarrased to admit this.. but I went through an entire sound check this past wed night with the preamp in standby mode trying...

They can't wire it for you and just let you hook up the speaker cables inside the cab to the plate??
